gear shift lever

2006 red and black im finding that the gear shift lever does not allow enough room for my steeltoe boots to fit easily under the lever.is there any way to raise the lever height?on my last bike 2001 cbrxx all you had to do was loosen the retaining nut slip the lever off move it up 1-2 teeth on the shaft and retighten.

Pretty much the same except you may have to pull the bolt all the way out, instead of just loosening.
