Gen 1 custom Garmin install

This is more for LSR then anything, these garmin 3's are way too outdated imo to use as a regular gps device, i just need it for testing my top speed runs.......

Added my garmin III to the bike today, its nice because it has big numbers for current speed and it also saves your top speed. only draw back is it covers the top of the gauge cluster. but i have a shift light on the way so i really dont need to see the tach.

Install took maybe a hour, pretty much bent the flat aluminum stock into a almost Z shape(with the middle straight insted of angled) using a hammer and vice, drilled 2 holes into the upper fairing stay and into my home made bracket to bolt it to the bike, then drilled 2 more holes for a zip tie to hold the gps more securely to the bracket along with the velcro, routed the wires for power and ground and that was it.

Used to have one of those and just mounted it to the steering stemj, but that will work well.

looks good there. ive been needing a speedo healer, but been thinkin bout just doin a setup like that to get accurate speed readings myself. :beerchug:

How are you gonna see the tach for shifting and peak speed RPM???? Why not mount it on the steering head stem? I like the GPS permanent install idea, but blocking the tach and oil pressure light is not condusive to LSR racing IMOP....

Now for touring or something, sure but.....

i said i have a shift light coming from boostbysmith, as far as the oil light and fi light it dosent bother me, been 200 plus plenty of times on the old bike with the same setup without a problem, on most busa's i've seen the oil light only comes on when the rod decides it wants fresh air anyway:laugh:
