I thought the forks on the Gen2 were spaced differently from Gen 1's ???

On the subject of compatibility, can somebody tell me if the 2nd gen fuel pumps will work on 1st gen ? Is there a 1st/2nd gen compatibility list anywhere ?

I did it because my tree was pretty scratched up from the previous owner and got the GenII for free. I'm pretty sure the plugs on the pumps are different on the wiring harness. I think that's why I used the GenII pump.

I don't care about plugs, as long as it fits and works, I'd be happy.

Well in that case yes it fits in the tank.

OK cool, so to confirm:
The 2nd gen pump fits in the place of the gen 1 pump, and the holes and seals line up, but you don't think the connectors are the same and you are not sure if the fuel pressure is the same ?

Yes it fits perfectly and the plugs are different now that I had a chance to look at it. I don't know about the pressure.
