gen 2 header on a gen 1 bike

Because every now and then a full Yosh etc system comes up for a GEN II and they are typically cheaper than the GEN I equivalent for some reason.

If anybody is convinced that they fit, please explain why.

I run a GEN1 full system on my '08. Only issue is the mid pipe is a little close to the wing, but it hasn't burnt or discolored in 10000 miles.

1. Was there any specific reason you used this combination?
2. Did you have any problems with the hangers ?

I just saw this today, 4 months late. LOL

The reason I ran a gen1 pipe was, 1tail.com sold me a KR Tuned full system that was supposed to be for a gen2. it wasn't. 1tail.com would not take it back, would not refund my money. KR tuned listed a GEN2 full system on their site at the time, I later found out that NO GEN2 full systems were ever imported by KR tuned. After multiple phone calls and emails to KR tuned with no response, I realized I was stuck with a $1400 POS.

I fabbed a hanger for the mid pipe and spaced the wing over 1/4 inch to get it to fit.

Other than fit, does Gen II header have bigger primary tubes? Cause if it does I would imagine it could be an upgrade over the stock Gen I. Then I can mod it as well for a 4-2-1 into a modded stock canister. Possible for a few more HP?

Can anyone measure with a caliper the inside and outside diameters of the primary pipes? They looks the same as the Gen I from all of the images I have seen. Just haven't had a chance to see one off of a bike.

Must indeed do some research and homework here.My friend managed to installl his previous gen 1 yoshi 4-2-1 without much modification done. But not the other way around that i have yet to hear of

Nice. I've been wanting to do this for a while. I've read it does fit, but needs minor modifications. Do it and report back.
