Gen 2 Rk8 Gearbox rebuild.

Right Guys and Gals, I've replaced the transmission and put the engine back in the frame only, no harness connections or throttle bodies etc....
Question: should I be able to select a gear I.e 1st
By turning the out put shaft obviously engine not running ?

Yes but you have the linkage backwards, now it is reverse shift, or GP shift

No, the clutch does not need pulled/engaged

Oh dear
I've got something wrong, it feels like it wants to try to engage just doesn't drop in .
Looks like I'm about to become an expert and do the whole process again, I'm thinking engine back out and opened up for investigation.

What @sixpack577 said. Move the output shaft back and forth to get things to align so it falls into gear (if it was put back together correctly).

It will help to put the chain on and use the rear wheel to spin the output shaft in the quest for gear selection!

I have taken the engine out of my busa and getting ready to take the bottom end out to fix 2nd gear. Do i just flip the engine upside down and leave it like that or is there a certain way the engine needs to be in order to do this. Another thing, does anyone have any last minute things i need...
