Hey guys, so I recently (this weekend) followed one of the threads on here from years back to complete an LED swap on my 2012 dash. Took it from that ugly, low contrast, orange to blues on the temp/fuel and whites behind my speed/rpms. LOVE the swap - makes it look a lot cleaner and I can see it better at night.
One thing I haven't been able to find is how to go about swapping the gear indicator backlight. The stock indicator offers not only the gears but also the clock, mileage, and other such info so I am not necessarily looking to add on one of the third party gear indicator only modules that you have to side mount on the dash.
I have done some poking around in the forums, attempted various search threads, and KNOW I can't be the only one that has had interest in changing out the little screen, or just the lighting for the screen.
Am I missing something? Can one of you that are more knowledgeable than I point me in the right direction to getting it changed? Are there LEDs under the screen that I need to just desolder to get to? Checking all the spec sheets and breakdowns for the various components only gives me a breakdown of the dash that has the entire cluster as one unit, not individual components. Super comfy with soldering, have spent hours upon hours behind an iron so it wouldn't be too concerning if I needed to.
