Just looked at a 2000 Suzuki SV650 with a friend that has driven motorcycles a long time. It only has 24000km on it, and for the first bit of it's life (probably 15-20k of the km's) it was a race bike. It has been taken care of, and runs great.

All it needs is a new rear tire, (front one is a Pirelli and is new). And, the speedometer doesn't work and the blinkers must of a loose wire.

Their selling it for $2500, O.B.O, and the guy holding it said their bottom line price is $2100 CDN.

Just wondering what sites I can look at for a cable for the speedometer,or what do you think?

And yes. I got attached to this site by dreaming about a Hayabusa, while looking at this SV650. One day a Hayabusa will be nice.

Well, there was one at a dealership for $3950 cdn, with around 25-30k kilometers, but, I don't think I can handle that dream! .... or the insurance more like it :banghead:

It's was a race bike for 15 - 20K klm and it was taken care of? If it was a race bike it had the guts run out of it during it's race life. How many times has it been crashed?

Not saying it's not still a decent bike but I'd look long and hard at that bike bifore I laid out the cash? It's now 10 years old. However, it still may have $2100 worth of life left in it?

They 'said' it's never been dropped. It has side bumpers in case it is 'lightly' dropped. Only thing that makes me question that is a bit of internal fairing repair that I noticed, no signs of it cracking through it though, and it has been repaired. Now, I don't know much about bikes though, but, shouldn't it still have lots of life in it with that low of km's?

If it's been raced for 15K Klm, my guess is it's been down more than once.

Just be very careful buying an old bike like that. Especially when you know it was once a race bike. Does it have a clean title? Here in the states you find lots of race bikes with salvage titles which means it was totalled at some time in its past. Guys buy them cheap and make track bikes out of them.

You may be wise to find someone who is very savy and get them to have a look/see?

:welcome: aboard the .org. Looking at the pics doesn't tell us what kind of condition the internals are in. Use your best judgment and listen to your gut. Just out of curiosity....what has led you to considering this bike? Are you looking at anything else?

Don't let go of your dream to get a Busa my man. Just look at my signature. It can & will happen if you truly want it to.

Good luck in whatever scoot you buy.

:welcome: to the oRg  Hit our sponsors up for your needs. Daniel is pretty good on this stuff ( goldenchild )

The price lead me to look at this one because of the condition it looked like it was in the pictures. So I brought my bike friend with me to look over it and test drive it yesterday. Ran really well, idle sounds dind't have any spuduring. He said it drove smooth and rode really well. Only thing was the blinkers sometimes worked, and the speedometer didn't work.

Oh, I am going to get a Busa one day, hopefully when I graduate form University for a reward!

I know you mentioned insurance as one of the factors in your posts above. I can tell you as someone who has an 05 Busa LE and and an 02 SV 650 in the garage, the SV is WAY cheaper to insure than the Busa!! The Busa will eat your lunch on insurance compared the the SV.

That's what I thought/heard. I'll save a the Busa for when I get a career job, not a fill year fulltime job. Can't wait for that day though!
