I went for a ride yesterday, first time all week. All went well, got some awesome pictures. My wife gets out of school at 2:00, it was noon and I wanted to stop by my parents before going home so I decided to take Rt 8. Anyone from around here (CT) will tell you how bad the police are on Rt. 8. This would have shaved about 30 to 40 mins off my ride so I decided to go for it. It was windy as hell but I had to play a little. So after a high speed run (not going to say how fast for fear that my wife might read this) I let go of the throttle and sit up and check my mirrors. The trooper was right on my a$$. I mean he was so close I was afraid to hit my brakes. Anyway I stop, take off my helmet and we get as far as "do you know why I stopped you" and suddenly he says to me "sir your bike". I look over and my bike is on it's side on the side of the highway. With all the wind I guess the big rig that blasted by was enough to take her down. I threw my wallet at him and let out a string of profanity a mile long. After I stood my bike back up, he handed me my wallet with one hand and the contents which he picked up for me with the other. As he headed toward his car I said isn't this punishment enough? I waited until he came back and he hands me a ticket for $254. He says I wrote you up for 80mph but I'm giving you a break. I know how fast you were really going. He wasn't being a p*ick, as mad as I was I understand that he needs to keep it safe. He said he gave me the ticket to teach me a lesson because he reports to at least one mc fatality a week.
Now about the Busa. Snapped off the clutch lever, tore up the stator cover, scratched up the left fairing, bar end, scratched the mirror housing and a little bit of a scuff on my yosh can that I can buff out with my Dremel.
FRAME SLIDERS WOULD HAVE SAVED MY A$$.
This bike has been nothing but bad luck. The week I got it I dropped it on it's right side, it stalled going up hill while turning right, in my driveway. Got it buffed out good enough. Then I get my cf fender bashed in at Home Depot, hit and run. The pos didn't have the decency to stick around. I just scraped up the cash (after being in the doghouse for my spending) and bought a fender. Then this. My wife is furious not only with all the cash I'm spending but she thinks the bike is cursed, and that these little events are getting progressively worse and that the next one will be bad. She didn't want me to have the Busa in the first place and now each time I ride it she's glad to see me come home alive and it's worse each time I ride she says.
THE ICING ON THE CAKE? I was supposed to work yesterday but since it was nice I got someone to cover. I could have made some extra cash but instead my little joy ride cost me a grand.
Ohhh I almost forgot. After the statey cut me loose I get my gear back on and the bike wont start. I check the switch for the kick stand and nothing. Where the clock is it said "check". I shut the key off and on several times and nothing. Now on top of the ticket, damage to the bike, I have to pay for towing? I ask the cop if he has a number for a towing company and he walks over to my bike. He asks if there is a tip sensor. I say yes but it resets when you stand the bike up. After a few mins of that he suggests I call a Zuk dealer. So I break out my cell and call Cycle Performance in Torrington. I tell them the whole story (great guys - they felt bad about my ticket). Anyway they put me on hold and looked up the problem which they don't even have to do, they could have just said tow it here and we'll look at it but they took the time to help me. Well it turns out I had the fuggin kill switch on. I was so frazzled that I couldn't even think straight enough to spot the obvious.
The bike will stay scratched. I don't want to be a scum bag and ask for handouts, I'm not that kind of person but if anyone has a clutch lever or stator cover I'd be grateful for ever. I have a package for NitrosJunkie that I said I'd mail out to him and as silly as it sounds I don't want to approach my wife for the $5 for postage.
Thank you all for letting me rant. I'm going to crawl under a rock and feel sorry for my self for a while. Kevin
