ya cant go wrong with garmin. the etrex is good for a basic unit and the 60 cs is one of the better higher end models

try searching for it... this topic has been discussed many many many times over

First figure out what you want it to do

. Then list them down and do a search. I use a Garmin Quest II, but I need all kind of info. with preset and reset route capability along with Avg Speed, present speed, distances traveled, time out and distination time, to/from etc. And it cost $650, so it's kinda spendy. Just list what you want it to do, and then do a manufactory search for their units and capabilities. If you just want the basic time, avg speed, present speed, it shouldn't be very expensive (as in no more than a couple of hundred if that much)

I gave myself the Magellan Explorist 400, rechargable battery, SD card slot, and am gettting the advanced mapping software to make it a little more fun to use. 3d mapping on PC.

$300 for unit + $100for topo software.

Actually my E-trex doesn't work too good on my bike...it doesnt wanna read in my pocket. My ancient Eagle explorer worked great everywhere, pockets and all. It just didn't save the max speed

and it was a tank

I think cause' the E-trex is so small it doesn't recieve too well. I guess I'll have to mount it on the bike somewhere
