My husband and I finally got to go riding for the entire day...we headed to Va Beach; it's about 75 miles from home...
Lots of good stuff happened along the way, oh, and one scary thing...about 15 minutes in to the ride, I was a dummy and underestimated exactly how slowly someone can make a right hand turn...I nearly hit a Jeep, had to hit the brakes HARD from 65-70 MPH, and had the back of my baby fish tail more than I ever care to feel again...I left a 3 or 4 foot black mark on the road. I was so shaken by almost losing control, I had to pull over for a minute and clear my head...thankfully, the Busa's a responsive bike...shimmy or not, I was able to slow enough to let the Jeep turn and still stay upright. It was the scariest moment I've had on the Busa thus far...lesson learned though...don't try to predict what the guy in front of you is going to do...
Here are the hi-lights though...it was a great day of riding...
We made it to the strip, cruised up and back in tons of traffic. At one of the lights, a guy came up closer to my bike and took my picture! That's right, either he was so enthralled by my new RoboCop Joe Rocket get-up, or he was a Busa fan...either way, I was laughing so hard, I was crying...my husband just shook his head and said "I'll never hear the end of this..." He was right; I spent most of the afternoon grinning at him and pretending to take his picture at stop lights...
Oh, and I finally "OWNED" my hubby's 1200 Harley...now, I know the Busa can whip a bike like that any day of the week, but you've got to know 1) my husband rides hard and he's done a few things to make his bike fast...he regularly gets the front wheel off of the ground, and he's a thrill seeker and often tries a lot harder than I'm willing to try to win a race...2) I have been waiting to get in sync with my Busa and still feel like I'm riding within the bounds of what I'm comfortable with, and this weekend I finally did...I whipped his azz so bad from a light, all he did was avoid looking at me at the next light...hung his head in shame...shame I tell ya! My shining moment...I'm finally King, oops, I mean Queen of the two wheelers!
There were tons of sport bikes out, but I was the only Busa around...we did stop at a gas station along the strip to take a look at the sport bike group that had gathered there. Some nice bikes to be seen...some CBRs with nice mods, a Triumph Daytona 955, some Suzuki 600's and 750's...no Busas...in my area, it is rare to see them for some reason...
It was a fun day...we made it home safe, seemed to be dodging some pretty big storms all day, but never saw a drop of rain. Having my picture taken on the strip by some tourist was the funniest thing though...
I'll be signing autographs in Lynchburg on April 17th...
