Ground war starting in the Gaza strip

The scary thing is this has been going on for decades and decades...even before we had troops fighting in Korea we had troops in the Gaza Strip providing security..

As a staunch ally to Israel, the US will be engaged in some form..

There is a good possibility of this spilling over borders and drawing other countries into the fray....

This is a little different I think. The middle east is not the energy leader it was and countries/areas like Africa, Russia, and the US can probably step up to the energy needs of the world if the ME goes up in flames. It will be interesting to see how much money people are willing to spend on defending sand once the oil is not a priority.
Agreed, anyone who thinks the Gulf war was an action to assist the plight of an oppressed people is in the market to buy a bridge or two...

Religious extremism is a cancer on this earth. I see a lot of support for Israel but I see them no different than extremist Islam or extremist catholics/Christians disgusting really.
I believe this is more a case of tribalism than religion. Islam Sunni do not get along with Shia, both Islam. The Israelis and Palestinians will never get along in our lifetime.

The things we hear less about are tribal conflicts in Africa. The tribal nature of people has triggered wars, toppled governments and wrecked courtships. From Sudan to South Africa, on shantytown streets and desert battlefields, tribal conflicts even today are fragmenting Africa's nations and tormenting its peoples.

I grew up in South Africa, during the apartheid era. Despite what the media was broadcasting, the biggest issues in terms of people being destroyed, were the tribal violence between Zulu, Xhosa and Sotho.

It is just the difference between a first world we live in and a third world where civilization is still under development.

Without stirring the pot and starting a whole new argument, we have to admit that the Israeli Palestinian issue received a lot of attention from the previous administration and quite a bit of progress was made. That is unfortunately no longer the case.

There always has been extremism and always will...

I've seen the affects of it first hand and have spoken to a few extremists....they are scary people who are ready and willing to lay down their lives in many cases for a belief in which they know little about.

Even in our society, some folks have no respect for life.

Elsewhere it is just multiplied several times. Religion is just a tool, to manipulate behavior for these kind of folks.

It's insanity doing the same thing over and over again and hoping for a different result/outcome. It proves no matter how far humanity progresses we will always regress to anger and hate.

That's human nature...as soon as one caveman tribe found out how to use a club, that tribe asserted itself on some other tribe...now we use bombs and bullets...

Same thing when someone invented the wheel, as soon as there were 2 wheels, somebody was racing them...

You have not raced on one wheel yet? And there I was, thinking you ride a Hayabusa.....

Wondering how different the world would be if there wasn't this misguided belief in religion?
How silly it looks that so many different cultures all believe the fact that "their" religion and their god is the only one. It's ridiculous so much devastation and death has been caused by a belief that has no factual basis and blindly followed by millions without questioning the stupidity of it.

During the forced removal from their homes a son told reporters that his father lost an arm, an eye and both feet in an explosion and the commentator on BBC World News said something that rings true in every ‘conflict’. He said,
‘History never dies in this conflict, people do.’

Hi. It is sad that hate never takes a day off. This is deep. Do you hate anyone? Have you hated anyone? Have you hated them enough to hurt or kill them? The only people I have hated were the people that were trying to kill me or anyone or ones that is trying to hurt my family ,or anyone. I have told this story before, at about 2 AM an older black woman {70+} came running out of her house. yelling some one was in side. I stop my car and ran inside to help. No one was inside, but the back door was open. What would you have done? Lets say he had a knife or a gun could you deal with that? Your life is on a very thin line.
