GSXRboy clutch question--

I have the Carpenter spacer with stronger clutch springs. Can I still run the 4 thick fiber plates? Do I have to run thinner steel plates to maintain the correct pack height? What is the required pack height?
Please post or email me at: gillis@ecc.edu

The height should be 2" if my memory is correct. I run all stock steels and the heavy "race" springs in my bike with the 4 thick fibers...

Do you drag race the bike? Is it stock? I'm getting a turbo and I'm afraid the clutch won't come close to handling the added HP if it has a hard time with the stock HP.

The bike is drag raced every weekend and a few nights out of every week. As for a Turbo I would say you need to go into a lockup clutch to get the power to the ground. 300-400hp don't do you any good if you can't get it to the ground!

Nope you need to get an MTC or MRE lockup clutch. This has weights etc. to lock the clutch so it won't slip. There needed for NOS and Turbo applications to hold the power.

If your squealing over $20 bucks....then you may not be ready to go to that next level.

If you like to dragrace your Busa on the street or at the track then you might want to listen to what i have to say about clutch mods in a few days.

I want to get more facts & details so I can answer all the questions about this NEW clutch mod.

Trust Me... I have never been as impressed with a mod for the Busa as I am with this one!

(sorry for pulling everybodies chains but let Me get the details first for ya)

I've already spent money for the spacer and springs (around $70), a new chain and tire ($300+or-), then $3545.00 for a Hahn Turbo and $351 for a Power Commander ($4,266 and counting). I don't mind paying for good stuff but if you know the size of the 2 dabs of silicone I needed then $20 seems like a rip and my dealer is known for doubling and tripling the suggested retail.

I got mine from Mirror Image in Michigan 734-547-0422 and yes they can be used on the street. (I ride my bike to work everyday!)

Greg, why in the world are you messing around with spacers and springs when your getting ready to drop a turbo on it?

If your ready to get serious about your bike and it's clutch system, then I know just what you need.

I'm not talking smack either!

Frank,

why didn't you tell me about this clutch mod at the prostar race?
does this meen I'm going have to make a long distant phone call to you now?

To Frank: I have the 2 stage. Cover mod is clean, and not noticable. I'm going to start a bit softer than stock, overall, on springs, and adjust accordingly. I have installed 3 OEM springs, shimmed, and 3 of the 6 stiffer springs supplied with kit. Looking to get MC Xpress turbo, by year end.

Greg, are you ready to spend a little cash for a lockup?

I'm gettin ready to blow the lid off a new mod that will take street bikes to the next level!

BadBoy, the reason I didn't say anything about this new clutch mod is because I like to have all the facts about something be I start discussing it.

The new clutch mod that I'll be (and everyone else that want to be serious about going fast) using is the "MTC multi-stage lock up clutch".If anyone with half a brain has any idea what this clutch can do for their bike in the going fast department, will own one SOON!
(No disrespect with that comment intended)

Tony Lang(MTC) and I spent about an hour discussing some things I'm working on for the "members on this site".

Everyone that orders one of these MTC multi-stage lock up's and uses my name will benifit by doing so. And No I'm not getting a free one either, just trying to get everyone to jump to the next level.

It has to start somewhere...

C.Dolan, I've read some of your stuff at different times concerning clutch's and you for one should know were I'm coming from about this setup.

I'm planning on putting all the details together over the next few days as soon as I recieve them from Tony.
This way I'll be able to answer any questions that may be asked.

Can you say... 1.30's 60fts!!

Details coming, get ready.

Gsxrboy as I recall you purchased your MRE lock-up at Reflections Polishing not Mirror Image I also have another in stock. Price is $400.00 plus core
