Guage issue...

My guages have been acting rather wierd lately.. When I leave the bike an gear and turn it off the guages will start resetting like when you first turn the key to the on position. As of 4 days ago my tac and speedo stopped working all together when the bike is on.(yes they still reset)


Any assistance to a solution to this problem would be very helpfull.

Did you pull the dash an check the connector?

Yes I just finished pulling the dash and checking the connection. It brought the tac and speedo back to working. but it did not correct the issue with the guages lighting up when the bike is off and in gear.

Has it been modded lighting or faceplates???

the guage is factory the only mods done the the bike are HiD headlights, TiForce dual exhaust and a PC3

Try by disconecting temporary the HID ballast.I have heared strange things happening hith HIDs

lots of people have posted up gauge problems and the common denominator is hid's

I have had this same thing happen after my HID install...just the one time. I unhooked the dash for about 10 minutes to make sure the clock was completely dead and it worked fine after that. I did unplug the ecu at the same time also...hope this helps.

Also try Zeroing the meters... page 2-12 in owners manual. hope it helps.

Most likely it's the HID ballasts. They put out a lot of RFI when they have power. Do your ballasts have power full time, or are they only powered when the bike is one? (e.i. Is it wired to the battery directly?)
