Guide to BRP & Saddle Bags

I am going to take some time off work and ride the Blue Ridge Parkway in a couple of weeks. Without a GPS how do you know where to stop for fuel, food and lodging as there are no signs at the exits? I was also wondering if anyone has used Nelson Rigg saddle bags as they are available for a real attractive price but I was wondering about the quality. Thanks and hope that you have a good fall riding season.

I have a full set of N.Riggs....tie'em down when full and you'll have no problems. If you have the rear saddle bags (I have the big set), use a little electrical tape on the area around where the 1300R stickers are on the backend over the rounded edge section. Even though they come with neoprene pads, adds a little insurance. I also have the expandable rear seat bag, once again, make sure you have it secured and you won't have to worry....I use the stock baggage lugs for that one. For the tank I have the "strapped" N.Riggs expandable. "More" than enough room for one on the road including tools.........

If you have a Verizon phone the GPS service works awesome for finding gas stations etc... The service is like $10 a month or $2.99 a day or free when you order a premium plan. The Blue Ridge is beautiful and ONLY 469 miles one way...

You could buy Delorme Street Atlas 2008 and install it on your home PC. It works without the GPS module. You can pull up anywhere and get local businesses and gas etc along with mileage, yuocan print area maps also. It'll take a few evening to do do yu will be happy inthe end.

The GPS on the VZ phones still works even where there is no service for calls...
