Thanks guys. he was just fine this morning when i got up, then before I left he was acting like it was hard for him to breathe, and his head was twitching around. When I got him to the vet, they also noticed that his eyes weren't dialating properly. Basically they figured it was either a brain tumor or blood infection.
I called my wife and told her to come to the vets and we made the decision to not make him suffer through lots of treatments that probably wouldnt have helped. He went peacefully in our arms.
We picked out a nice spot in our back yard where the rabbits play a lot and buried him there.
I'm going to miss that little guy. He was my buddy.

Touch decision for sure, but it's the right one when they're suffering. I would just once like to lose a pet to natural causes/old age, just pass in their sleep. I've had to put down every creature I've owned and it's harder and harder each time.

It absolutely broke my heart when we brought him home to let the other cats say goodbye to him before we buried him. Our Maine Coon (Conrad) was grooming him and sniffing at him, and after doing that for a minute, he let out the saddest cry I have ever heard another animal make.
What a cutie!!! So sorry for your loss. We had to put our Corey down in August due to old age actually. She was 18. Glad whatever it was he didn't suffer too long. (((hugs)))

Sorry for your loss. I only had to put down one animal. My Rotti. He was just a puppy, barely two months old. When I brought hime home after purchasing him, he kinda dragged his hind legs every so often. He barely walked and the breader told me that he was just shy because he was away from his family. I ended up taking "Marley" to a neurologist and finding out that he had brain damge and that his condition would only worsen as he got older. My wife and I made the decision to put him down. We got to PetsMart and my wife didn't want me to take him inside. She was VERY upset. I didn't want to either, but I had to put the selfishness aside and do what was right. Grown man struggling not to cry like a little kid. I never want to go through that again.
