I would like to gut the stock cans more a little extra hp but mostly for noise appeal.

Any 1 ever done this ? Can the baffles be easily put back in if its too loud and obnoxious ?

LOUD and obnoxious.... oops, may have set myself up there.

any hints or advice for this mod would be welcomed.

Are you certain? I've kind of got a list here...

My stockers are modified...hubby drilled holes in 'em, about 1 inch each, 3 holes I think...sounds better than stock, no problems (well, a very rare backfiring, no biggie). I'm sure I got about 25 HP out of that freebie mod

Of course, drilling holes can't be redone, so we did it to a set of stock cans from Ebay, $49...drive down and I'll let you hear 'em...

Hello?! I'm working (using the term loosely of course)...I'm not even on the Busa today...

They sound good...I can hear 'em from a mile away when Mike's stolen my bike and he tears off down the road...

You can take 'em out...there's a picture tutorial on here somewhere from about a year and a half or so ago showing you how to do it.....putting it back again might be a little tricky though, like in it probably ain't happening.

I drilled my stock cans like Vabusa did and it was OK for awhile....but I had to go for a full system after awhile.

Keep in mind RSD that you need to remove the pair valve if you don't want a bunch of back firing... Good luck bro!

Just gut the cans , go to a muffler shop and get two take off glass packs from their junk pile . The perforated core is needed out of them . Some will need shortened but use the funnel shaped end at the entry and after finding the actual length , weld a washer " big ID " onto the exit end. Pack it with muffler packing and put the end cap back on .

I have not done this to a Busa but have another bike and it sounded deeper than a aftermarket slip-on . The aluminum case is thicker so the noise level is less .

Gut the midpipes , stroke it using the std pistons , use an intake cam on the exhaust and set them at 105-108 for the ultimate low cost sleeper with big , big torque

Drive torque and race with HP .

I have a TiForce racing system...drill the rivets out and pull you skin off or take the end off of the canister, then take out your fiber wrap and put it back together. Personally I took mine out and went to a dealership and bought new fiber and just did a small wrap and put it back together. Did the job for me..somewhat louder but doesn't sound like a can....laters:cool:

i gutted mine, i didnt even bother filling it with glasspack. its not very loud at all most ppl think its stock. but it does sound a bit more deep and throaty, no backfires as of yet. took me 10-15 min on each, very easy. theres a tutorial but he used a pipe and baffles in the can, i didnt see the point....goodluck

cool info . thx dudes. Its the backfiring that worries me. I'm off to the dyno tomorrow,so its now or never. I spent a shidload of time polishing them stockers to look like chrome,so I'm a little hestitant, tossing them in the scrap pile would be such a waste if something fugs up.

it would be a shame to have to shid can these....
