We came home from Maxton to find a memorial right down the street from my home. I don't see much released information yet, but from what I understand so far the motorcycle was clocked at mid triple digits. There appears to have been some sort of chase.

I did not know him personally, but he lived about 2 miles from me and was a neighbor of someone I work with. There have been family and friends at the accident memorial site most of the day mourning the loss of this young Hayabusa rider.

---------

A motorcycle accident in Salem has left a 21-year-old man dead.

Curtis A. Hackett of Roanoke County was pronounced dead at the scene, after his bike struck a utility pole in the 2100 block of West Main Street around 10:30 last night.

No other vehicles were involved and police believe speed was a factor.

The crash is still under investigation.

Busa was probably his first and last bike... all to common .... drag...

RIP

So you are positive this was another Busa rider?

That's what his next door neighbor told me. They were there right after the road was blocked off and stopped in Arby's to see what happened. The people there advised it was a Hayabusa and they immediately thought of me possibly having had an accident.

They found out a few minutes later who it was and later told me he had just purchased the Hayabusa a couple months ago.

What sad news. Regardless of what kind of motorcycle it was.......may he R.I.P. :please:
