What you dont see is the strap that goes across the front of the bed and around the front wheel and tire. It was there just to keep the bars from turning. Go get you a 40 dollar Harbor Freight Chock. I would have done that myself if I had the time before we left. Then you only need tie downs on the back of the bike. Or............you can use a Canyon Dancer to tie down the bars. Lots of debate on that issue, but I prefer not to compress my forks and put that much down force on my bar ends.
I do have a lot of straps on the bike, and probably 4 were not really needed, but I like to be safer than sorry. I do tend to over kill a little when strapping her down.
