I just bought a 2003 copper LE busa and had a few questions about it. It has 6000 miles on it and seems to run like a top. Its all stock. The owner was an older guy who took very good care of it. I have noticed though that it doesn't seem to wind up that quick or pull near as hard as I was expecting. I know some busas can have fuel filter problems, just wondering if theres anything I should check? And I seem to have some vibration around 5000rpm. I've checked my chain tension and wheels, everything seems to be good. And by the way awesome site

haha change rear sprocket to 43 teeth from OEM 40 teeth and tell me how it pulls lol..

I also have an 03 Copper. Welcome to the true LE model.

As to your lack of power....hmmmm...I have about 10K on mine now and I am on the original filter.

I don't know wat you are used to riding, but for me it took me months to get used to how MUCH it pulled. I was breaking traction when I least expected it.

I have no idea how yours feels, but I would look at old fuel first, or possibly fuel pump pressure.

Welcome. I had an 03 LE. Man I loved that bike. It should pull really hard even without going to the 43 tooth rear sprocket. As far as the fuel filter issue there are a whole lots of guys here and ladies also for that matter who have dealt with many issues. I'm sure some can answer that question for you..

fuel filter was fixed in '00.

Run it up to 7 grand in first, wack the throttle WFO and see how hard it pulls.

i seriously doubt you have a fuel filter problem that would be the last thing i look at. if your worried about fuel test the pressure of your fuel i wouldnt even think about the filter to be honest.

Yep this is one beautiful bike no doubt

I was reading another thread and think I might have found a part of the problem. I'm coming off an 02 gsxr1000 that had yoshi cams, a yoshi full exhaust, a pcIII and a tre. I think maybe I was expecting a little too much out of the stock busa. I was under the impression it had alot more power than my 1000, and thought it was going to pull harder. I can say it has a lot more low end than the 1000, but it doesn't rev near as quick. Its a lot plusher and more comfy tho, and handles pretty good for a big bike

Hey the 1000 is a fast bike. Faster than the Busa in a few ways. I have friend that owns both and he can outrun me in more than one arena. HOWEVER......as you pointed out, the Busa is a Cadillac compared to the 1000 if you are going to be on the bike for ay period of time. And the Busa responds well to tuning. But it will always be a larger heavier bike, built for comfort more than the track.

I just figured my old 02 1000 wouldn't hang with the busa even with its mods. I have noticed the busa is geared VERY tall, thats why it doesn't rev as quick as I expected it to. I think dropping the gearing alone would help it a lot

I rode with a couple other guys on older bikes and ran away no problem. This bike is so tall geared and smooth it just doesn't feel as fast as your really going, very deceptive

What I do like is you don't have to shift it much, it pretty much seems to pull good at any rpm's. I'm gonna have to adjust to that

It sure makes it easy to roll through the twisties tho. I think its going to be a nice change from the 1000
