HAve you ever seen this?

How much Money you talking to get a bike set up like that? also is it cheaper to build your own or buy one when somone gets out of racing?

A stock gen2 motor is capable of low 9's in the 1/4 mile(maybe more). That depends heavily upon the rider's size, skill, track conditions, air temp, wind, ect. That's usually strapped and stetched too.
If you want to go really fast you're looking at a big shot of nitros or a turbo, and there's a handful of guys running superchargers. All of these engines need built to handle them... or they will be after a few passes.
These bikes are also stripped of any excess weight and most in the video have alot of high dollar parts. Even plastics are very expensive.
A stock gen2 is capable of getting into the 9's in the 1/4(again, alot of things determine that). You can get a front end strap(for lowering)and extensions that bolt to a stock swingarm, both are fairly inexpensive and will help improve your times.
There is alot involved in going that fast, and doing it consistantly. There are also alot of guys here that do that, and can give you advice on how and where to start.
Just remember the old question. How do you make a small fortune racing? Start out with a big one!
You can have dragracing fun pretty cheap, but the guys in the video are serious contenders and big spenders! They have more in mods than the cost of their bikes, some of them several times over.:beerchug:

You can spend as much as you want on something like that.
There are deals on used dragbikes too, but most times you never know if you're buying someone else's problems.
You have to be prepared to replace any part at any time.
PM site sponsor POWERHOUSE. He builds turbo bikes and Busas, from mild to wild. He can give you realistic numbers.

OK so i sent the guy in the video with the orange bike a message and he said the bike is for sale, he had a little girl and doesnt race anymore. The bike is a 1608 on c16 with a fogger kit thats never been used. Bike runs 5 teens off the trailer with a 140lb rider. And has a set of Bst wheels on it. He told me he would take $10k for it. Tax time is here and I think i may go check it out. What do you think? what is a slider? it has one of those 2, kws head?

That price is probably fair, as you only get a fraction of the money you spend in modifications back when you sell a bike, or a car. The cf wheels are around $4k with ceramic bearings.
That's nitros bike too, it may have 20, 30 strong passes left in it...or one. You never know.
You have to be ready spend money in it. You'de also be advised to take someone with you that's knowledgeable about them or have the bike inspected by a trusted shop. If you don't know what you're looking at when you're there in person, that's a great way to get taken.

he said the motor was just went threw a while back and only has about 9 passes on it since the freshen up? $4k for wheels???????? what is a slider?

Search for bst cf wheels, you'll see the prices.
9 passes, 90 passes, it doesn't really matter. It's a large displacement high rpm race engine. It might have a hundred strong runs in it, or go boom on your first pass. Most people that have nitros on any bike(especially a race bike)use it. I'de be leary of it being said that it was never used.
As far as a "slider" goes, I'm unfamiliar with that term, aside from frame sliders(which are cheap and not really worth mentioning).
I've drag raced several street bikes over the years, but in no way am I a dragracer like those guys in the video.
There are a few here, they just need time to see your post or aren't online right now.

Make sure you know what your getting into with a bike like this. I just hung up drag racing, cars not bikes. My mustang I just sold for 7k cost me 45k to build. Yes, buying a bike all ready built is the way to go, wish I had done it. Those extra race pieces not related to the motor and tranny are usually worth the money you spend on a drag car/bike someone is selling. It's not a street bike. You need a tow vehicle, trailor, race fuel, generator, fans, etc. Not to mention entry fees and tires. Very expensive hobby.

a slider clutch setup is not something ur gonna use of the street so unless u plan of racing the bike only so ull have to change that which means ull have to dail in ur clutch to make it work with his combo unless u went with a $3500 hays convertable clutch which has a slider built in.

its always cheaper to buy someone elses bike that is already done but bikes that are raced hard are always a gamble just as raced cars are but it may have a lot of good parts already so u could definately save some money and time or it could be the worst mistake u ever make and u could be buying a ticking time bomb...:drama:

OH! Slider/slipper clutch! I couldn't think of anything called a slider when he was asking.
