Have you scratched your peg feelers?

If you've left them on, have you?

I was knee down in a few corners this weekend, with a moderate amount of hang-off-ness, and I didn't touch the feelers whatsoever.

I felt like I had the bike over... ???

Is your rear tire worn from edge to edge?

If not you're really not leaning over you're just sliding your *** off of the seat. Hell...You can do that while the bikes in the garage.

Feelers go down pretty easy especially on the left side. BEWARE going much further, i did and dragged my fairing and alternator cover HARD and the bike slid about a foot before it gripped again! Scared the crap out of me.

i havent touched my feelers but have used all of the tire from edge to edge except about a half inch on each side maybe a little less. i know i could use all of it i just dont want to murder my fairings.

The half inch is what I'm talking about. I meant edge to edge.

I'm just talking trash though. I've got about a quarter inch on the right side and about a half inch on the left side.

BTW, I'm left handed...Go figure...

If you are running off the edges of your tires then you are driving too fast on the street. It is not safe to be on the edge.

Besides the Busa isn't a corner carver. It does well but is not stellar.

Now when ya have GP compound tires and and then run off the edge of the tires then you are getting down.....just make sure and get knee and foot sliders.

I would agree...If you're running on the edges on the street you're asking for trouble, you wouldn't believe how many people around here are running on the edges. Unless they are taking emory cloth to their rear tires. Actually it's better to look at the front. If the front is worn to the edge...You'll probably see some curb feeler and exhaust can damage. It takes a good lean angle to get the front worn on the edges.

Either way it's too far for me on the street.

I'm not totally edge to edge... but really damned close.

Different people have different riding styles/tolerances on the street... I don't think that you'd necessarily "be going to fast on the street" to wear the tires edge to edge.

On my previous ride ('92 VFR), prior to a light hanging off style, I'd catch the feelers once in awhile. Once I'd adopted my "hump the tank, and get a cheek off", I was down to 1 or 2 scratches per session.

I believe if I sat bolt upright on the 'Bus, I'd have to have a fair shot at nailing them... but I don't.

Anyhow, I was just curious... the bike seemed to have more cornering clearance than the VFR, and I think it was proven this past weekend. At the lean angles I was generating (and speed), I should have ridden my knee thru several turns (on the VFR)... only a scuff or two on the left with the Bus.

Don't get me wrong... more ground clearance is good!

Had the Busa on some of the baddest leans in my life at track school at Nelson Ledges race track Saturday. If you ever do anything in your life on a bike ,track school should be on top on your list. No cops, cars, or critters to worry about and its a ****** BLAST !!!!By the end of the day, your wearing the EDGES of the tires down and still not touching the pegs to pavement . I think your bikes going down before the pegs scrape.

I removed mine and shitcanned them the day I took delivery, my tires are worn all the way to the edges in back and about 5 millimeters remain on the front around the edge. Also my preload is adjusted to only 5 millimeters of sag, giving me quite a bit more clearance than other busas.

You know how your toes hang down below your pegs sometimes? I dragged the tip of my left boot in a corner by mistake. Scared the heck out of me! That's the closest I've come to dragging my pegs.

Spike,
I've been to CLASS on Laguna Seca twice, and once at "Thunderhill." Laguna is a fantastic fast track... can't wait to try the 'Bus out of turn 11... can you say "wheelspin" ??? (Oh, sure, I'll generate wheelspin, then crap my shorts.)

Gixxer1300,
Nice lean angle... good shots.

Omega,
You must generate some impressive lean angle to get that kind of wear. Pat yourself on the back.
Do you seriously hang off the bike, moderately, or not at all?
There is simply a point that I cannot get myself to push the bike over further... I like to blame it on the way I sit on the bike... making it uncomfortable or awkward. The truth is prolly I just don't have the sack/courage to push the bike over that last extra bit.
As I've said earlier, in my experience, the less you hang off the bike, the more likely you are to drag hard bits.

...nope...rear tire worn to edge....bike raised also...plan to replace foot pegs w/TLR units, but they never scraped....both ends have slid w/o a crash......

CuriousMike,
That's the bungee hooks on the preproduction models appearing in all the brochures.
Suzuki decided to change location of these and combine it with extra mount holding tail plastic in place on final production models.
