I can hit 180 in 2nd at 22,000 RPM's but I have a TRE!

Talltom writes "Yes that sounds about right. And you have 2 left.

And it's effortless."

2 left? Do you have the 5 speed transmission?

Is this thread serious?

It can't be brother

mate i have had bikes for 25 year my mate was behind me today with his zx10 2011 model we both gunned it in third . i pulled away all the way he slipped the zx10 in to 4th as i was pulling all the way . and yes third gear 160 again . am not worried about it thats the least of what am pissed about . i have got a mirror new off ebay new bar ends . i might be lucky and be able to respray the scuffs and get new decals if not its two new pannels for the right side. bloody sick all i do with my bikes is pollish love them too much . just ordered rear sets if i new i wouldent have bothered with them until i get the bike sorted now sick as f.....k
On the Gen II you'll need heat shields and pads as well.

Since the factory speedo is known to be OFF, may I suggest getting a speed-o-healer then no one can question your claimed speed (pic of instrument cluster like Blanca above should silence the naysayers). Probably after you get repairs done to your bike. Best of luck.
yes mate i will take web cam if i have too . it pisses me off when i post a question about the speed in third gear and you get twats calling you a lier . my bikes a mess so that comes first

I may be a twat but I didn't call you a liar Mate

Yours must just be a special model that nobody else here has even seen cuz 160mph in 3rd ain't happening.
One thing I know about in flatland Florida is speed.
You started the thread and asked a question. Sorry if it wasn't the backpattin' answer you wanted.

Nobody called you a liar and I can't speak for the others but I'm not doubting you're seeing 160 on the speedo....but you're not actually going 160 MPH unless the gearing's been altered, that's all. Pretty sure the European model can be toggled back and forth from MPH to KPH......just a possibility?

Stock gearing and rear tire 141 @ 11.3K, 150 @ 12K in 3rd gear. The tachs and speedos are off and most of us old timers know this and that's why we find this funny, on the other hand we understand it. GPS my friend.

Someone else posted a self imposed limit that I believe in error as well according to the mags and wiki for the Gen II, but that's another argument and I grow tired of the arguments

i really dont give a toss about the speedo readings now mate more interested if finding fairing panels for my bike . ok i get it the speedo must be out next time the 19 of us is out i can get my mate in his zzr14 to stay behind me and see what his readings are. :banghead:

Shouldn't be too tough to keep your bud's 14 behind you

Best case scenario your speedo & tach are jacked. Legit 160MPH is not happening in 3rd before hitting the rev limiter. Or maybe your gear indicator is jacked

Sounds like you need to slow down if you just got it and are already in need of new fairings... :poke:

...the previous owner may have changed some things it sounds like. NO WAY is that bike 1) pulling 12,00RPM actual unless the ECU has been flashed, or 2) going 160mph in 3rd-gear....NEVER going to happen on a stock bike.

Goodluck finding your replacement fairings....cheers mate... :beerchug:

since i bought my bike it has been fun speeding, after about 120 iv been getting an "oh ****" factor.. most likely because the animals that have ran infront of me/bugs i hit with my lid this past month of owning it.
