What's up everyone? Newbie here. I am looking to get another bike and comfort is my first priority. I was wondering if there were any big guys or girls on busas. If so, how comfortable are they on longer rides. I am 6'6'' and about 350lbs. I hope I don't offend anyone when I say this, but I am also looking at the zx-14 also. Can anyone help the rookie out? Thanks in advance.

The busa is a very comfortable bike. I'm 6'4" and 280. You will want to look at an aftermarket seat though. And maybe new pegs to help lower your legs down. The busa will out perform the ZX in comfort every time IMHO

Welcome! There are tons of Comfort mods you can do to the Busa. There are also tons (no pun) of larger riders on them. Lower pegs or adjustable rearsets, bar risers or adjustable bars, custom seats, taller windshields etc. Try out the search tab on here using some of these terms.

Buell peg mod
Reapers Risers
Genmar riser
Helibar's
Convertibars
Cycle Cat Rips
Gilles Variobars
Corbin Seat
Tobin Seat
Sport touring mods

I am 6'2 and I found a few things out pretty quickly..

Seating: the seat is marginal (a sheep hide helps here, thanks DR1300R)
Handlebars: I put on a set of Helibars and a set of risers (Thanks BlueHaya for the risers)
Pegs: the Buell peg mod lowers the pegs about 1.5" and back about 3/4 of an inch.

The pegs and handle bar mods help you to stretch out a bit (my knees really start to ache about 2 hours into the ride, this fixed that problem)

You will find a good number of other riders that have done the same mods and for me it made the bike good for an easy 500M a day ride instead of 200M.. my longest day was 790 miles and my knees were fine

There is a poll in here somewhere showing avg weights of riders with busas. Alot of big guys on Busas here.

6'3", 210 and ride fine on mine. Added some Pro-Tek pegs and a Tobin seat (for comfort) and ride pretty well. Longest ride was about 700 miles down and back to Eureka Springs and the group ride. May add some risers, but not sure. No problems here.

Thanks everyone, I forgot to mention that I currently ride a 98 cbr 900rr. The problem I have other than it being just too small is that my "HAMS" hurt after about an hour or so on that bike. I am a suzuki fan at heart, but due to my size I have to buy what I am comfortable on. You guys have definately helped with mods. thanks again

im 6'2" and about 145lbs dry... i feel comfertable...
i am however thinkin about gainin some mass

6' 310 lbs. when i bought her (down to 275 now) and she is very comfortable...as has been mentioned, a lot of the taller guys use different pegs to give their legs more room

6' 300# here.. Mods listed above made a HUGE difference for me.. Buell pegs, risers, and a taller windscreen so the wind doesn't hit you in the chest. Haven't had any long rides yet, but just locally, it made a great difference in comfort. I'll be checking into a Corbin seat soon as well.

good luck, and welcome to the board. Some GREAT info on here.

I'm 6' 300lbs and I can't ride a regular sport bike any longer than about hour without getting butt rubbing uncomfortable. The busa is very comfy. Go sit on a busa and then immediately go sit on a 14. I've never sat on a 14 cause I had no intentions on buying one (hideous panels on the side) but people on the board say they are fairly comfortable. I have the buell pegs (they lower your feet) which help with your knees if you have problems but the stock pegs give me more confidence because of the rubber surface. I really want to buy a Tobin seat as everyone here raves about them but when I sit on the bike I only leave about an inch and half of empty space between the tank and the hump so i'm not sure if a Tobin will work for me with that lip on the back of it even if he trims it down.

Welcome to the board, I do hope you find another bike to your liking. The Busa seems well suited to most tasks. Like others have said, a few simple and in-expensive mods can make it a lot more comfortable to ride. I am 5'11" and 180.

I'm 6'7 and about 270. My pegs, handle bars, and windshield are stock. Mine's even been lowered 1-2 inches and it's very comfortable to me.

where is the best place to buy some of these things? I have an 08 busa and i really dont like my seat. What would you reccomend? I am 5'8 about 160 and i have a little trouble getting my feet flat on the ground. Thanks, Doug

As you have an 08', not sure on where to get the links to lower her, a couple of members on the board sell pegs that are ready to install. Dont remember names very well, try the search. Also, if you redo your seat, you will gain about an inch. Be sure and check out our sponsors for parts too.

I check on the lowering kits. I think i can make my own but i wanted to see how much it would settle before i do anything like that. I would like to have a differant seat though. After riding yesterday my but was numb after about 50 miles and i keep sliding into the tank and that dosent feel go either. Thanks for the help, Doug
