First off this forum is great im a busa owner for about 5 years now which is about half of my riding life. I recently changed the look of my busa. It was all red limited color. Now i re did it flat-black and changed the wheels and a few things. i think it looks very aggressive...however after painting the frame last week, i began to have some stuttering problems. Fi light is flashing and the bike is running rough. This was after filling up with regular gas which i been doing with bikes since 1999 with no problems. My busa is an 02 wih 04 limited plastics. Bike looks pretty good right now but this new issue is very frustrating because i dont have an answer, so i figured id holla at u guys and see what you thought. Also if anybody is close to the lehigh valley area in pa and have some experience and might wanna look at it let me know via private message. I can post pics for anybody who might be interested in looking at the bike before and after i blacked it out!!!

Just to paint a picture....bike is good for a few miles...when i take it on highway and wind it out a little, fi light comes on and the bike starts stuttering. Almost seems like its trying to get gas and its not getting it. I switch gears and change throttle position to keep it rolling and lower my rpms..if not it bucks like a horse. Its really bad. Not sure why thought about plugs they were just changed...and i just changed to k & n air filter. Bike has power commander and i took the tre off thinking that might be the issue. It wasnt. Like i said i filled it with regular and it happened right after that...but i doubt the gas would make it do that.

did you spray the bike while it was together? or was it anyway near the paint as it was floating around in the air? just check to make sure, if nothing else you will rule it out...also check the tip over sensor and the 2 sensors on the air box itself

Yes i did spray the frame while bike was put together...ur correct..i covered most of the internals under the tank with paper before i did...and was very cautious....i dont know what the tip over sensor and airbox sensors are...nor do i know exactly where they are located...also what do i look for once i find them..excuse my ignorance...ive done the basics too my bikes...not really a mechanic..thanx again

it could be totally unrelated to you painting it..

Mine did the same exact thing and it was the fuel filter screen clogged. Its an 02 and had 8000 miles on it.

Well bro :welcome: and I hope you are able to diagnose your rough running problems. Like djsin said...check your filter. Maybe you did get a tank of bad bottom gas. Do you have a PC?

Oh...and asking us if we we're interested in seeing pics...is kinda like asking....does a bear sh*t in the woods?

Of course we want to see! Especially a re-paint

So POST UP MY MAN!

also check to see that the fuel hoses coming off the tank are not collapsed or twisted...my 99 had serious bucking problems for 10 - 15 seconds, and then ran like normal for a few hours, and then it would happen all over again. Drove me crazy for 2 months. Problem was in one of the fuel hoses (the return line, surprisingly). I cut out the bad part in the line and problem was solved. Anyways, it definetely sounds like yours is not getting fuel.

When you hooked the tank back up, there was probably a kink or twist somewhere in the lines...

I'm thinking bad gas. Did u ride after the paint work? How long b4 fill up? Was it cool until the fill up?

i had a similar problem. check your kickstand sensor. make sure it's depressed all the way when the kickstand is up.

all mine needed was a little bending at the contact point and she's good as new. if this seems to be the problem dont bend the kickstand, just the small lever that presses the sensor in.

Wassup fellas...i filled up after the paint work..so theres no telling if it was the paint or the fill..up then i went and got some redline and poured it in hoping to cleanse the system. What i did wrong was instead of letting that half of tank burn out i filled up with premium thinking the bad gas would burn out...but that was probably a bad move. Either way its full now took off the tre..wasnt that...checked the plugs..wasnt that...checked hoses things look like they are supposed to look under the tank....heres a couple pics before i slapped the decals on. Ill try to snap a few more...as u can see i didnt put front fender on yet....i wanna cut it a little closer so im still seeing how i wanna do it..
