Head Work and Pipe

My stock 04 busa is ready for engine mods. I am a displacement guy...no turbos...Who does the best head work? I am looking at Vance and Hines but there are a few out there. Also I am leaning towards the Vance and Hines Competition series pipe. Any comments?

:welcome:

There are literally dozens of "very good" shops for doing head work.. You need to decide "budget" first (the sky is the limit) when it comes to cylinder head work and that work needs to jive with the rest of the motor.. You need to work with 1 specific engine builder and not try to piece this together yourself IMHO..

paying for someones previous experience will save you thousands later.. Now is a good time for referrals to that 1 guy... (geography counts)

The best headwork is relative to what you want and how thick your wallet is. If your "head guy" says bigger valves are needed then go to someone else.

As for pipes why not go to the source for the V&H pipe by getting a Brock one.

FWIW.. it is possible to take a $2000 head and convert it into a $20,000 head.. (BTDT)

Depends on where you are, but if you're in the midwest there is an excellent head guy in Indianapolis. Port-Tech Heads in the biz name. The guy goes by crazybill over in SH.org (he's a sponsor over there) and does excellent head/motor work - he's built me two motors and both have been awesome.

I'm going to have to reccomend Lazer Mike. For the better part all he does is head work. LAZER PORTING I know the site looks kinda old but he did my heads and cams, and I was impressed.

Thanks for the responses............What do you mean "go to the source of V&H pipes" Do they not build their own pipes?

I may leave displacement stock for now and go with 13:1 pistons, and bigger cams with the head work and pipe. Any suggestions?

Brock Davidson can give you the skinny on this in detail. Brock's system is what the V&H system is modeled from .

x2 on port-tech, I have one of his heads on my 1397 the motor was built by quantum motorsports,At first I thought I needed a $2000 head, The only people pay this is for name and the cost of the cnc. His heads are hand ported, I have Ran against against the same motor set up with a ward head and They were with in 2 mph of each other. same times. go to his web site and take a look.
