My stock 04 busa is ready for engine mods. I am a displacement guy...no turbos...Who does the best head work? I am looking at Vance and Hines but there are a few out there. Also I am leaning towards the Vance and Hines Competition series pipe. Any comments?
There are literally dozens of "very good" shops for doing head work.. You need to decide "budget" first (the sky is the limit) when it comes to cylinder head work and that work needs to jive with the rest of the motor.. You need to work with 1 specific engine builder and not try to piece this together yourself IMHO..
paying for someones previous experience will save you thousands later.. Now is a good time for referrals to that 1 guy... (geography counts)
Depends on where you are, but if you're in the midwest there is an excellent head guy in Indianapolis. Port-Tech Heads in the biz name. The guy goes by crazybill over in SH.org (he's a sponsor over there) and does excellent head/motor work - he's built me two motors and both have been awesome.
I'm going to have to reccomend Lazer Mike. For the better part all he does is head work. LAZER PORTING I know the site looks kinda old but he did my heads and cams, and I was impressed.
mikejmarine........i went to that lazer porting site and that place is not THAT far from me...do u have any ideas of the prices for the different phases? I saw he had different levels for them? Thank u for the help
x2 on port-tech, I have one of his heads on my 1397 the motor was built by quantum motorsports,At first I thought I needed a $2000 head, The only people pay this is for name and the cost of the cnc. His heads are hand ported, I have Ran against against the same motor set up with a ward head and They were with in 2 mph of each other. same times. go to his web site and take a look.
