HEADLIGHT BLOCKER

i replaced the low beam in my 05 with the hid unit and am totally happy and amazed at it. the problem is that is makes the high beam look horrible. i am wanting a brighter high beam. from what iceman and others have said the hid doesnt work well in the high beam. i was wondering if any one has attempted any thing else? i owned a bandit s before the busa and i pulled the headlight assembly apart to clean out the black dust that they all had. while i had it apart i removed the metal blocker in the assembly that covers the top half of the bulb . it made a large improvement. from what i could see when i had the nose off to wire in my dual filament marker lights, the high beam looks just like the bandits beam. any one removed the blocker? just cause i think they look the same doesnt mean they are so i was hoping for a little feedback. i also noticed that the lens its self in the assembly looks hazy and filmed over. any one else notice any thing like that? looks like if it was cleaned it would make a difference in its self. thanks everyone.

I replaced my high beam with a yellow bulb from Icemann. Didn't feel the need for anything else. Simple replacement job.

Well to answer your other question...

Rhythm and I both have seperated the actual headlight assembly gaining access to INSIDE the headlight.

It's not difficult but care has to be taken.  Rhythm was the man and since then I have had it apart 1/2 a dozen times trying shyttt.

If you remove the high beam "lens" it's an unfinished area behind it.  It looks horrible without the lens.  Like it's missing something badly.  It would be neat to play with buy you might be able to RETRO fit a bmw projector lens system it the highbeams place for an HID but not worth the headache. The lens is just thick as helll, not dirty. It's pre focused for a filiment type bulb and it's like a magnafying glass of sort. Thats why the HID looks very badly when shinned thru it. TOO MUCH light.

After all the trial and errors I had with it, I ended up having the yellows made.

BIGBS, thats probably the best photo yet Ive seen of the HID/yellow combo that wasnt distorted.

Thanks,
JD

does the yellow highbeam help?

I was ridin home last night with my chrome visor on, and couldnt see shat..

Rode with mine for the first time last night and honestly it didn't provide any more light, but what could? That HID lights up the world! It made a very interesting yellow spot in the middle of the road.
