first, I did a spur of the moment ride out to Omaha for a track day but my camera battery was dead so I got no pics. midnightSD got some so he'll have to post the fun!
firday I headed out toward Omaha and camped at the local gritty motel 1 mile from the track. Saturday, hit the gate at 7:30, paid $170 [late entrance fee but soooooooooo worth it] and prepped my bike. I'm getting good at this! just a couple tools, some fluids, tape off glass/plastic... good to go! ANd WHAT A PERFECT FANTASTULIC UBERLICIOUS HEAVENLY DAY FOR TRACK RIDING IT WAS!!!!!! Yeah, the temps peaked at 90 and not a cloud in the sky but there was a cool breeze and the blacktop track heated nicely and I was stickly like.... well, I dunno but I was stickin! EASILY got out to the edges of my tire and knee dragged on both sides, getting passed by every skilled 600 racer out there - first time I have EVER been passed in corners and it was very interesting and a little scarey, yet very motogp like to be leaned way over looking into your turn then hearing the whirr, buzz or drone [they all sounded different] of another bike 2 foot from you and out of the corner of your eye you see him leaned over like you and passing, cutting in front of you hammering it out of the corner! Pretty cool! The other track day group doesn't allow that for safety but this group did and it was ok.
I'm still not thrilled with my Pirelli Diablo Corsa's because I don't ride hard enough to REALLY heat them up even on a track but I gotta admit they have never ever let me down. They just don't bead up when they get sticky - sort of look cracked instead. weird.
One of the best deals of the day was getting to meet a live quality H.org member who also wanted to take the busa around the track! MidnightBusaSD [is that right?] brought out his super quality shiney/pretty busa and flinged it around the track all day long with me! He was taking the track class so they would do 30 mins in class, then 30 on the track applying what they learned. and he learned quick!!
he was setting a good pace, learning the best line to take and dragging both pegs by mid morning! His camera had a WORKING battery so hopefully he can post up some pics and continue describing his experience here too.
Weather wise, we could not have asked for a more perfect day!!!! Great ride! Great Day! Great meeting a fellow member that loves to ride!!
take it away midnight! Did ya get the camera figure out yet? ?
oh here's the track. on the main strait you can hit around 160 indicated before jamming the brakes to catch the right hander turn 1
