Just registered...have to say i love these bikes and anything that is fast! Ever since i saw my first one in philly a WHILE back that was turbo'ed...that thing was NUTS i guess i am attracted to that sort of thing hehehe. Really into american muscle cars as you can see in the sig (what can i say i have the bug :-) ) and i will be moving to AZ soon. was looking at bikes so i dont have to drive my car all the time...its a never ending project lol, so i was going to get something to learn on then in a year or so when i am ready i want to get a busa. I think that bike would be AWESOME on AZ roads. Was wondering about the bikes handling. Does it corner well? hug the road? or is it more of a straight line bike. Also can someone point me in the direction of a good site that sells performance and handling parts. I still am learning so please excuse the stupid questions but you have to start somewhere!

IF you have not ridden before take the state run riding course, score a dirt bike & some gear & go play in the mud for awhile. Buy the street bike you like, your right hand controls your destiny.

The busa is the best all around sport bike with touring capabilities... IMHO of of course. With that, it's wider, heavier, and has a longer wheelbase than most sportsbikes. More powerful than most too which more than offset some of these characteristics. This makes it very comfy and stable. It turns very nicely, hugs the road, and feels good. With the extra weight, width, and wheelbase, it's not going to carve like a 600, 750, or 1000. It takes more effort to flick it quickly. Unless you want a bike specifically for carving or tricks, the busa is the way to go. There are many aftermarket parts available. What type of performance upgrades were you thinking of?

The busa will handle past the capabilities and limits of MOST riders on the street. While it isn't quite as lightweight and nimble as the 600-1000 bikes it is far from bein' a "straight line bike" unless you slam it, extend the swingarm, etc... In stock form it handles quite well in the corners. Mine has brought me through some fairly tight stuff without any problems. Again, it handles better than I can ride. So far, as long as I trust her and lean 'er over, she pulls through.

I think you're on the right track goin' with somethin' smaller to learn on. Wish I had done it that way.

Here's another thought... Buy ridin' gear (leather is preferred, nylon/mesh ridin' gear at the very least) before you buy a bike, or at least before you start spendin' money on performance and handling upgrades. The busa has plenty of performance and handlin' in stock form to get you in over your head. Ride smart and wear gear and maybe you'll live long enough to wear a busa out.

Welcome to the board. If you get the Busa you'll love it.

Yeah, what everyone else said. And WELCOME!!! Stick around because there is a wealth of knowledge to gain here. Best of all, it's free advice.

As soon as you believe that you are comfortable, you seriously need to watch out because that comfort will turn around and bite you in the ass, other than that have fun, take your time, GET GEAR!

Well just anything and everything related to performane/handling upgrades, i know thats kinda broad and most of it is a matter of personal preferance but i guess i need to know what names are good and give good performance and which ones to stay away from. Basically what are the big names in hayabusa performance. I know what is good and what is bad in terms of cars know i need to know the same for this bike. And thank you all for the welcome and yes i do plan on getting all the necessary gear first. As with my car i do nothing half assed its either the best or nothing at all (thats why i eventually want to purchase a busa

). When i have some time i plan on using the search feature...ALOT lol. do some all around research on different things.

Welcome to the board!  Looks like you have a lot of information about capabilities already so won't bore you with that.  Performance upgrades is a difficult question to answer.  It really depends on what you want.  There are exhaust mods (slip-ons/bolt-ons to full exhaust), airbox mods, PAIR valve mod, cams, pistons, lowering links/straps, handlebar, tires, wheels, sprockets, turbo, NOS, oil, swingarm, clutch, shifter, chain, fuel and ignition mapping, suspension, brakes, etc upgrades that can be done.  Just about anything you can think of for a car you can do with a 'Busa and is way more than can be answered with a single post.  It will take a long time (and don't forget money) for you to get through all that and besides we don't even know what the '05 is going to look like yet.  Anyway, all that to say this take your time, start with what you know, ask questions (including stupid ones because we all have) and use the SEARCH feature ALOT!  It's a great board, so take advantage of what Cap has provided all of us!

One more question...my dad seems to think that this bike is not comfortable at all for long rides. He told me that after about a couple weeks i am going to trade it in for a harley. Is a busa pretty comfortable to ride on long distance trips (maybe like 100-150 miles...not all at once though ill stop for lunch

No havent taken it to the track yet. We usually go to cecil though havent been to ATCO or E-Town. I work in the afternoon and have school so dont have much time to take it to the track. But i plan on it when i get it running perfect on 5psi. Have a few kinks to work out

I have a Harley; could barely make it home most days because long rides hurt like hell on the rear...sure, fork over some big bucks and buy a new seat, then the Harleys are fine...

For reference, my hubby and Dad have Harleys. We all took off for a 4 hour ride (one way), and with each stop, they were both hurting. By the time we made the 4 hour ride back, they could barely stand...me? I was fine...honestly could have gone two hundred more miles! I think the Busa's comfy as hell...
