First off I would like to say this site is great and I am looking foreward to joining the club properly when I actually get my bike

I live in the UK at the moment but will be moving to Los Angeles on a permenant basis in the next 6 months. This is when I'll be getting my bike.
My first question is in regards to insurance - I am looking for liability and comprehensive cover on the bike. I am a male 21y/o, looking at a brand new Busa and have under 1yr experience. I got a quote of $4000 - does this seem right or am I looking in the wrong places (used progressive). Looked on another site, bike-line and they quoted me $1300 on a GSX-R 1000K3 as there was no Hayabusa listed on their site. Progressive quoted me the same price as what they quoted me on the Hayabusa ($4000) on a GSX-R 1000K3, so I assumed bike line would do the same i.e. $1300 on the Busa(as progresive lists them as exactly the same risk), called bike line up and said they dont insure Hayabusas' due to the risk. Question is can u all point me towards any companies who will insure me more towards $1300 for the cover I want or is this an unrealistic goal.
Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help.
MarK.

Hello and welcome!
Tough to find reasonable insurance on this bike at 21 y/o. I got best rate from progressive because of multiple vehicle discounts. Good luck and I'm sure other members of this board may have more info.

Um By and Large I feel that Progressive is an evil pack of bastards, their quote for me was like $3000 or so a year for full coverage, while at USAA they insured me for $800. But, Insure your car through State Farm and they offer some of the best rates on Busa insurance out there.

But 21 years Old, less than a years riding experiance... I still have to recommend against the Busa as your first big bike... There are a litany of reasons I say this and not one of them something you want to hear, but I will say you would probably have more fun on one of the Super 600's out there for a couple of years first. Things just simply happen too fast on the Busa...

But if you check at the top of this topic you will see a pinned discusion regarding this... Whatever you decide to do, go take the MSF beginners course first. Not only will you learnthings you do not know, you will save money on Insurance.

Oh, and WELCOME...

We have seen this type thread a hundred times and each time State Farm rises to the top...... That's who I had insurance with...

Ok thanks guys, will check out state farm, I have heard that they offer good rates on Bikes if u insure a car with them, thing is, the Busa will be my only vehicle for a while so there will be no car to insure as well as. However I'll give them a go anyway and see how the quote turns out.
In relation to the Busa first bike thing I appreciate your comments and value your concern however I will do all necesary training courses and will engage my brain each time I'm about to twist the throttle:).

I have state farm as well, I got the bike when I was 22 (24 now and 58 per month) and my insurance was 65$ a month for full coverage that was with the multi car discount.  I talked to the lady and she said the reason that they are cheaper than the other insurance companies is that they just go off of the CC size so it could be a busa or a cruiser and it does not matter.

LOL - ok that works, I will try get a quote with state farm. Considering your age and the fact u had full coverage that seems like a damn good quote, do u think this is due to the multi car discount or are they just that good?
Thanks,
MarK.

Welcome to the board...hope to see pics of your new Busa real soon...

Insurance rates...yeah, what they all said...I have progressive insurance right now, all bike and vehicles are on that policy, and the best they could offer me was $1100/year just for my Busa...I keep hearing about State Farm too, so that's where I'm looking when this policy's up...

S.H.I.T just spoke to a state farm agent and they only insure bikes if u have either home or auto insurance with them. Will keep trying around and will keep u al updated at the moment best is progressive - liability and comprehensive for $4200.
