I'm a proud new owner of a Gorgeous Orange & Black 2008 Hayabusa!! It's super clean with only 4,700 miles.
The Busa is the 14th motorcycle I've owned over the years (I'll be 54 in August) and I feel it is the best. (Sorry BMW)
My Busa is still totally stock, so I'm figuring out what I want to do to her. I look forward to learning from this fine forum.

:welcome: to the org. You will find no shortage of ideas on here. Do you have any idea of which direction you want to go. If it hasn't been done yet the kickstand mod might be a good place to start.

Yes thanks, I was looking at that. I'm thinking maybe the ECU Flash (don't know which one is best) maybe lighter exhaust cans, dark windscreen, etc...
I'm just thrilled to finally have a Hayabusa. Getting one just never seemed to work out until now.

You can't go wrong with flashing the ecu. If there is a trusted guy near you I would suggest a dyno tune. Where are you located? If there is not a dyno near you then you could send it off to one of our sponsors. If you are thinking of a full exhaust I would do that before the ecu same goes for a different air filter.

Another mod I have gotten a ton of use out of is the trunk mod. If a little extra space is something that you could get some use out of.

If I change out the exhaust cans what are good ones that are still fairly quiet, but will shave off major weight?
I really like the look of Carbon Fiber. Also I'm wanting to tweak the various suspension adjustments, but I didn't
get an owners manual with the bike.

Thanks

As far as exhaust you will get as many answers as members. I have a full Yoshimura system and like it. If you would like to pm me your info I have an extra owners manual I could send you.

:welcome: to the oRg

If you want performance the ECU flash is great, if you're putting a full exhaust on wait for the flash. If all ur putting on are slip-ons ( cans ) the black carbon fiber R77's look good

Wednesday night, taking delivery of my Sweet Beast...

I just got done cleaning up the rear by cutting off the "Ducktail" slightly above the license plate, looks much better.
And I just got done ordering a Dark Smoke Puig Racing Windscreen. An ECU Flash and I'm pretty much good to go.
I don't like a loud bike so I will probably leave the exhaust stock. She's a sweet ride!!

The Busa is super clean. Yep, I have went from ZX-14, to a Goldwing 1800, and now I have the King !!
The Goldwing was super nice, but also super boring.

I have an older GW too. Yes boring, but nicer for LONG rides or if you need to carry a lot of stuff.

So did you Not like the ZX14? What Year was it? I think their info center is a little nicer then the Busa's But I like my Gen I pretty well.

My ZX-14 was also a 2008, here's my comparison...

1) The Handling of the Hayabusa feels like a Litre Bike compared to the Sluggish ZX-14
2) The Engine of the Hayabusa is much Smoother and has less vibration than the ZX-14
3) The Shifting of the Hayabusa is Butter Smooth and is superior to the ZX-14
4) The Comfort (for me) is a little better on the Hayabusa
5) The Unique, Stream Lined Styling of the Hayabusa rules over the porky looking ZX-14
6) This 2008 Hayabusa is a more Refined & Better Quality Bike than the 2008 ZX-14 was.

These are my observations now that I have owned and spent time riding each bike.

THE HAYABUSA IS A KEEPER

Thanks for the info.

I agree with all you said about the 08 Busa vs the 08 ZX14.

However I wonder if all that would hold true if a 13 Busa and 13 ZX14 were compared. ???

I thought the ZX14 had some major changes in 2012 which made them smoother and faster.
That is the major thing keeping me from upgrading to a Gen II Busa is there has been almost no changes since 08.
Like most of us here I'm waiting to see if a Gen III really appears. I like my Gen I pretty well so unless the Gen III really
is different in a lot of ways I'll stick with my Gen I and then start looking for something to replace my old GW which still runs OK.

So Like you, I say THE HAYABUSA IS A KEEPER.

BTW where in KS are you?

The orange black has always been one of my favorite color schemes. That is a great looking bike. I have done mostly comfort mods to my 2012 other than getting those huge 40 plus pound muffler off and getting the ecu flashed. Some of the mods you may want to look into for comfort are:

1) Buell Pegs. Lower your feet about an inch and a half.
2) Handle bar risers. Have a Soupys 3/4" riser on mine. More comfortable seating position for long rides.
3) Aftermarket seat. I have saddleman Gel seat and I like it but I hear the Corbins are really nice.

For other mods I did the following and am very happy:

1) Yosh R77 slip on exhaust.
2) Flash ECU
3) New Brake Levers, steel braided lines, and high performance pads
4) Rear fender delete. (sounds like you have that covered)
5) HID light kit for headlight. 4 times the lumans and great visibility at night.
6) USB power source at dash to charge phone, power GPS, etc.
7) Mirror extenders to move the mirrors out an inch so I can actually see past my shoulders.

I think that pretty much covers everything I did. I really like each and everyone and think they are worth the investment.
