hello everyone, this is my first post!!AS of today i made a deal to trade off my 2007 gsxr 1000 and am getting a 2008 black and orange busa, im just waiting for the dealership to recieve it. Ive been racing for the past 4 or 5 years and am exited to see what kind of a time on can get on this new bike... can anyone recomend a good lowering link? and how hard is it to install on the busa??? do i need to remove the exaust?? I know i should get a strap too but i just hate the way my last bike felt with the strap on at the strip lol im probally weird but i didnt care for it, but if i do get one what is a good strap? thank you for any imfo i really appericate it.

I can't help you with the track stuff but a big howdy-do to ya!!

I have a totally unrelated question for you - gonna send a PM...

Welcome! Nice to have another female voice at the Org. Good luck with the new bike. I have the same color and I know your gonna love it.

Welcome to the madness! Lowering links are not hard to install and removing the exhaust is not required, but certainly makes it easier. I would only use a strap for the strip. Schnitz makes some good ones and probably the only ones I would use. Post up pics of your old Gixxer and new Busa when you get a chance.

Allways nice to have new folks, especially one who the Busa is not your first bike. There are a number of drag racers here so I am sure someone will get you the info you need.

Welcome! Careful around here, some act like they never have seen a girl before!

The rear links are fairly simple to install. The exhaust can stay in place. The ones for both generations of busas will work just fine. Soupy makes a very affordable and adjustable kit for the rear. For the front, I recommend a combination of a top cover/triple clamp (exoticycles make a sweet one) and a strap. I'm using a Schnitz strap. They work best with a radial mount kit on the 08s. I feel the object is to limit the up travel with the strap not lower it. I lower mine by sliding the forks up through the aftermarket triple, and then pull the strap slightly (compress about ½"￾). I don't like the way they feel pulled down tight either but you need to reduce the slide hammer effect lifting the front wheel.

thank you all for the nice welcome, ill try to put up a pic og my current gsxr 1000, i only turned a 10.6 in the quater, i only got to race it once and it was completly stock and wheelied bad lol, my 04 gsxr 1000 i turned consistant 10.2 on it was stock as well, so it will be fun to see what this bike runs.

I think you are going to find the new busa will like to wheelie as well! Adding about 3 inches with a set of extensions will make a BIG difference!

thank you for the imfo professor , i was typing the same time you were!! So the busa likes the wheelie too? Im sure they all do to some point but the lighter sport bikes have been a real challenge to ride s.w.b. and height. what rpm does this bike like to be launched at?

I could not tell you on the GenII bike. I raced my 03 with a stock arm for the last 2 years. I launch around 4000 but slide the clutch and roll the throttle over about 2 seconds. Most of the early test reports show the 08 being a pretty big handful to keep the front down on the launch (and for the first 500" or so). My street ride on an 08 made me understand why. The 99-07s were easier to launch SWB then the 1Ks as they are heavier and a bit longer wheelbase, about 3 inches.

Over the winter my bike is now 62.5" and I have a bit more power than the 08s. It is much more controllable than it has been the last two years.

A friend of mine races this one and I think it is about the right height and length for an 08.  A 150lb (fixed typo) rider could get in the very low 9s on a stock one.

Rick you got rid of the copper bike? or did you just add the 08?

and with a 15 lb rider, maybe 8's?
