Helmet

I've got a Arai helmet these days. Had it 2 years, and though its a great helmet in many respects, its causing a bit of discomfort.

If I've been out for more than an hour or so, I get a real nasty jaw ache, that area of the helmet ever so slightly compresses my jaw. It doesn't take long until I need to stop just to get the thing off and give my jaw a rest.

I'm off to the Bike show here in the UK this weekend, so hoping to pick up a bargain.

Thought about one of those helmets where the whole front lifts up. If not that, one that has got as good a ventilation system as the Arai. What have you got, and why does it work for you - aside from keeping your head in one piece.

Helmets are a lot like shoes.... What fits you might not fit me! So, with that in mind here are the helmets I've had and like for different reasons.]
1. Shoei
2. HJC
3. Suomy
4. Nolan
5. Maxton

Shoei is by far my favorite. It fits my shape of head the best......
The rest are in no particular order, just some I've had and thought made the grade.

Yep, I rate Shoei too, that was my helmet before the Arai - until one of mates dropped it on concrete when he was helping me to move house.

I couldn't find another Shoei to fit after that. I might try again.

Maybe different sized cheek pads would help?

But then, you wouldn't have an excuse to get a new lid

I like the fit of my Scorpion EXO-400 and if it does not fit you, you only spent about $129.00 and can always use it as a back up or a passenger helmet

i hate that i find my mouth and nose smashed against the front of my lid when i hit 130+, i want as lid that stays put. useing a vr2 now.

I've had two Shoeis and now have an Arai. The Shoeis were a lot quieter than the Arai; otherwise, I like them equally well. I bought a Suomy from a Suomy rep at a dealer's open house - I rode home with it on and took it right back. It looked awesome and was comfortable but NOISY!!! I was really disappointed because I liked it so much otherwise.

Excuse my ignorance, who makes the VR2 / VR3 ? And how are they for noise. I do tend to find the Arai quite noisy despite wearing ear plugs.

I've got an hjc it seems to buffet at higher speeds I have a cheap Vega that feels better than the hjc and doesn't buffet at all I'm gonna switch to either shoei or arai

my uncle and i had a shoie there really nice helmats and my uncle is bigger guy so it fit him nice that helmat is what saved his life in that accident

the vr3 is a KBC helmet. Its what my dad rides with but Im about to get one of the flip face units for myself. There great helmet with a lower price.

If your interested in one or anything else, I carry just about all of them. Give me a hola.

Thanks Josh, I would drop you a line but you're way too far away and I want to try one on before buying. Thanks anyway.

I have a scorpion EX-700, not badly priced at all
+1 I've got the same helmet. I've found it to fit very well, the no- fog shield works great, and it doesn't get buffeted in the air flow.

One thing you might try if you find a helmet you like except for excessive noise is the windjammer II. It fits over the bottom of the helmet and snugs against the neck. It reduces noise substantially, moves it from inside the helmet to outside. You'd probably still need earplugs on long rides.

The company that sells it is in the UK:

I bought 'em for my wife and myself and we both like it.
