Okay here's the issue.
I had just changed my fork seals my first time ever:cheerleader: now my finished all put together and now I'm stuck.... How high are you suppose to have the forks once it's in the top tripe tree clamp?? Would it be flush with it? Alittle above??? I wanna go ride and this is the last thing before I can go ride arrgghhhh:banghead:
Help!!

Give the guys a minute...somebody will chime in for sure. Yours is a Gen 1 so I'm of no help on this one. How about it Frog?

Do you still have the stock triple clamp orr do you have an aftermarket lowering one?

Stock = Push up until they stop
Aftermarket = Flush if you want a stock front ride height

It's still the stock triple tree and everything in that department. I can't seem to find the proper measurement anywhere. So would I have to take all the bolts off to make sure it's 100% loose so it can go as far as possible?

If the bolts were loose enought to drop the forks they're loose enough to slide back in.

Push them up until they stop, then tighten everything down.

No I had to remove the handle bar holder to loosen the fork caps. I followed the manual word for word but at the end it doesn't say how far it should go. Basiclly in reverse order

Manual says to reinstall top cover with handlebars. Install forks only till flush with lower clamps tighten pinch bolts then tighten for caps. Loosen off pinch bolts and slide forks up until flush with top cover plate and then properly torque all upper and lower pinch bolts.

I also need to retighten the fork caps still so the handle bars aren't back on just yet.

Put your fork tubes back in, tighten one bolt on the clamp to hold the tube from spinning, tighten the caps, reinstall handlebars, loosen on clamp bolt and push tubes to the top and tigheten all triple clamp bolts down.

You have one little screw up here.

You MUST torque the fork carteridge or some may call it the cap on the upper end BEFORE you tighten the upper clamp. If not, you won't turn that puppy at all.

Set the fork tube with the top of the gold tube flush or just slightly above and tighten the bottom clamp. The trick is to keep the upper plate with the clipon's from sitting on the ends of the forks. Then torque the cartridge cap to 23nm before torquing the top clamp. Clamp bolts are 23nm as well. A torque wrench is your best friend in these applications.

Congrats on your first fork seal replacement!

I hope you've got your answer, but from memory with all stock components, flush with triple tree.

Thanks tufbusa! It was a long and miserable road but She's done and I sure feel a great knowing it was done right! It's all thanks to this board !!!
Yes dadofthree, it's actually not flushed to the triple tree! :rulez:Gotta put the forks in tighten the fork cap then take it out and put the handlebar holders on and THEN shove em right up there as far she goes!
