I have all the bolts removed. The shift linkage is off. I can't get the cover to budge though. I have to ride the bike in the morning and at the moment it is in the trailer apart.

All I wanted to do was clean the thing. I would hate to put it back together without the job done.

Please help guys. I'm missing something.

could be caked on.

I tapped mine with a plastic hammer to jar the seal.

Here is a pic, every thread needs one...

The shavings are from polishing the frame, I hope you have a mighty vac in case you need to bleed the line.

OK, I'm headed back out to pull, tap, and BEAT if necessary.

I'll be back with updates and hopefully not a busted cover.

the dowels get can be a little tight if they have never been off...

be sure the bolts go back in the right locations.

More muscle, man.

Be careful you don't squeeze the clutch once you have the cover off.

All is good and back in working order again. It just took a little tapping. I had never had a cover give me this much trouble.

After 15,000 miles things really weren't that dirty. The clutch rod had to be removed, cleaned, and oiled due to sticking, but everything else was easily brushed and wiped out with a little carburator cleaner on a rag. It all looks like new again.

It took me about 15 min to do the job. The ride I took afterwards took a little longer though.
