Help!! motor surges!!

Never Forgotten
Any input would be appreciated! I have been following this board for a couple of months now. Even before I bought my new Busa. I have an 06 Busa with 250 miles on her. Now I am going to try and give you guys as much info as possible to help and rule out the simple stuff.
First the bike is stock except for Yoshimura Bling 22s cans. These I ordered a week before I got the bike, so bhy the time I got the bike I basically put these on.
The problem is once the motor is warmed up fully, I mean 10-15 minutes of riding the bike will not idle steady. It surges about 200-300 RPM up and then goes back down. Just bounces up and back down to idle. I can feel it riding also.
Now I have adjusted the idle up from 1100 in 100 degree increments up to 1400 rpm to see if that was it and it wasn't.
I tried the marble mod, did nothing. But it doesn't backfire or anything like I have read others do.
I just received my Gear indicator/ ATRE from the group buy and put that in, noticed no change other than I love it. WOrks perfectly!! Looks COOL!!
First tank of gas was 93 octane. Thought that might be it to. Ran that almost out and now I have 87 Octane and no change. STILL SURGES!! AHHHHHH!!
Please help!! I hate to bring it to the dealer for this if I can avoid it!
Also stupid question #1 what do most of you guys donate to the Org? How much is enough? I have gained ALOT of knowledge from reading. Also alot of laughs from reading!! Thanks to everyone who takes there time to post pics and respond to peoples questions and hopefully mine! LOL Thanks

Spit balling here. Take a look at your fast idle lever. When you start the bike with the fast idle on, does it jump around then as well? When you pull the throttle does the tach rise smoothly? Does it do this from the begining or does it start after the bike is warm and then the problem goes away?

When the bike is cold it idles perfectly smooth. Doesn't bounce or surge or anything. With that fast idle on or off. When I pull the throttle the tach goes up smoothly when it is cold. WHen it is warm, sometimes it jumps sometimes it doesn't. Once it is warm the problem doesn't go away. Today I rode for an hour and it was there the whole time after the first ten minutes.

Is that something I can do or the dealer? I am good with Motors, mechanics etc.. but you lost me on these. Anybody know what he means or how to do it I should ad? I was hoping for a couple of simple easy things to look for that I could check or try myself. Even if it was involved I would try it.

OK Great Very informative on the Throttle body Sync. I will have to order one of those gauges for balancing the vacuum and give it a shot. Thanks for the info. I did a search and came up with nothing!! Thanks again!!

The TPS setting I am not sure on how to set. I read that link you sent and I am still unsure. Sorry if it is there in black in white but.. I will do some homework here and see if I can find out some more info. Thanks for all! This board rocks!!!

i wouldnt think you should have to mess with it , its a brand new bike , take it back to the dealer , what part of long island are you from ? we have quite a few members around here .

i agree
but if you take to the dealer remove the tre. so they can not blame the problem on it. because it is not stock

I am in Smithtown. I bought it from Thomas Motor Sports. I just HATE bringing in my bike for service. Not that I have done it yet with this one. But with other bikes I HATE bringing them in for service. Just nit picking I guess?

i tried to buy a bike there when i bought my busa , went in in dec ready to buy , but nobody asked me if i needed help , i was there for like an hour ? so i am not sure about thier customer service ? i am in mastic beach , work out of sayville , get to work in smithtown somtimes too , i realy wouldnt mess with syncin , or tps on such a new bike , you are probably better off goin back to the dealer , if you have had the tank up , make sure the fuel suply line is not kinked . if it didnt happen before the install and its happening now , i would take some time and retrace my steps ?

good luck

a few of us are headin up to bear mountain on july 8th , if you are interested ? long day of riding but well worth it , there are some great roads up there !

OK Much betterer!!! Thanks Now that helped!!
That sounds like the Saturday morning project. Hopefully nice and easy!! Hopefully! Sounds easy!

That sucks! They left you standing there for an hour!! I wouldn't of lasted that long!! I pretty much put the cans on right away once I got it. It maybe had 50 miles on it and yes it ran smooth. You are right I have to go back and just go over the things that I have touched just to make sure nothing is kinked or whatever. I am almost tempted to swap the cans back for stock just to see if that is it.
Thanks for the offer on Bear mountain, but with the surging it is not comfortable at certain RPMs and in turns with the surging!! I really want to clear this up first before going on any twistys. Sounds like alot of fun though!! Iread these boards ALL of the time. VERY INFORMATIVE!! Thanks Again!!

i could swing by and take a look with you , but i have never experienced this type of problem ? i have a hard copy of the service manual ? and i belive there is a version of the manual here somewhere?

i would back track even if you end up returning to stock , then mod again , chalk it up to a learning experience ! let me know if i can help ? it can be frustrating !

Changing cans back to stock ones is about the easiest place to start. That's probably where I would. That and remove any mods (TRE) before returning to dealer just to cya!
Gotta hook up with us for rides. There are good folks here from LI... and other places too...
