Help: Put extension on K8... traction and ride height questions.

I got my extensions on and took it down the road for the first time. I have it sitting at ~8 1/4" longer than stock.

Im having a hard time getting my launches down. I either have to it so low that it bogs, or if i launch around 4500 slipping the clutch a bit, the rear tire spins badly once i try to bring in the throttle. This was all on the street in front of my house, haven't been to the track yet.

Im still on a stock tire (though its about smoked, especially after last night, lol)

I put quite a few miles on the bike (4600 so far in about 3 months). I have been looking at maybe putting a shinko on there, but i know they dont last very long.

Is there a tire that hooks better than the BT015, but lasts longer than a shinko? I would like to find a happy medium.

Also... would a new rear spring make a big difference? I have the tire sitting about an inch and a half from the rear tail light, and i had to stiffen up the stock spring about 1/4-3/8 of an inch to even get it to sit that high (rubbed first i launched it before i stiffened it up). I have the lowering link in the middle hole, and the front is still at stock height (it will be lowered 1" as soon as i figure out the best way to drop the forks now that i have the spacers)

Other details:

My weight is about 270 lbs, i also like to ride with a passenger on a regular basis.

Also forgot to add... right now there is no way i could ride with a passenger, its close to rubbing with just me on there.

Hey there buddy, looks like your in the same boat as me.......im too damn fat! you might have to have your rear shock/spring set up for your weight, and its not cheap. not sure on what tire your looking for, but your never going to hook that setup on a stock tire.

Would it make it a lot better if i went to +6 instead?

I want to casually race the bike at the track, and figured longer was better.

I would go 4-5 ins. At 270 lbs you should hook at that length. Also the u-soft shinko lasts a long time for me. Here's a pic of my 08 at 4.5 ins

Boosted, do you ever drag the air filter like that, or is it only a straight line machine?
If I'm not careful on my turns to the left it is possible. It actually will lean further than you think but not as far as your avatar...

I have mine 4 1/2" extended (welded on extensions to a stock swingarm). It's lowered 3" in rear I have no problem's I only weigh 155lbs.

What kinda mileage are you getting out of the shinko? I dont ride very hard 90% of the time.

Also... what are you guys doing about a chain guard. I took the stock one off since it rubbed the tire extended. Having a lot of chain lube slung up now.

I have never had a issue with chain guard I'm using stock tire on stock size RC Components wheel

That also doesn't appear to be a stock chain guard

Good looking bike man. Way too much bling for me to keep up with though. I have a hard enough time keeping the black clean

All I do is wash it and blow dry it with leaf blower wipe the CHROME down with stoner's glass cleaner very easy. By the way chain guard came with swingarm it is bolted on in stock location.

Here's mine.. its at 63.5".

At 270, you're just too heavy to have another passenger on there. You weight what 2 people weigh(that this bike was intended for)..I'm 300, so I know all about it..its a one passenger bike for fat guys, lol.

Turn up the spring adjuster 2 turns. Run the center link on our lowering links and you're all set.

Leave at 7500..4500 is too low, bog city

you don't look 300 lbs on that dark grey 08...LOL

Thats what i was thinkin, lol.

So there is no way to get stock rideability once lowered and stretched? I dont care if i have to purchase a stiffer spring... i just have to find a way to ride 2 up. Girl is gona be very upset, lol.

Just DON'T lower it with your weigh you will be fine. You could actually leave it with stock height if you soften up spring you should acheive what you want. I have a riding buddy that is around your weigh his bike is extended 6" with stock rear height he soften is rear spring all the way and he is lower then mine with no issues. Just my opinion!
