I will try make this short. I'm new to the busa, and fuel injection.
I just picked up a 03 40th with 1300 miles, and is bone stock accept for a full yoshimura TRS system and a pcIII USB And a TRE.

The person I got it from just had the dealer install the exhaust and the pcIII USB WITH MAP M312-012 - Yoshimura Duplex full exhaust and stock or aftermarket air filter I have always had bikes with carbs and know nothing about the power commander.

Here is my question.
The end of my pipe is very black, it seems to be running very rich. It seems to run good, but Around town it is a little "choppy" Is the busa a smooth running bike during town driving?
I added a TRE to see if it would help it, but did not notice a differance.

When I start the bike and look at the commander the first bar is lit up, and when I turn the throttle it will raise to about the middle of the bar.
Where should the bar be during Idle? Also what are the buttons for? I did look on the commander web site, with not much luck.

Should the end of the pipe be realy black? Is there anything I should check?
I really don't like how choppy it is around town, I hope to find a way to smooth it out.
Any help would be great!

From my experience aftermarket pipes seem to run slightly rich and all seem to blacken on the end.

My busa is not choppy at all.

The PC lights are simply indicating throttle position while the bike is running.

You should download the latest PC software from the PC site and install in on your computer. It has tutorials built into it as well as a full set of instructions.

The buttons are to richen or lean your fuel manually. this is explained in the instructions.

The map you have, 312-012, is the correct map for your pipe.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, I can do carbs in my sleep...But baffeled with the FI. What would cause the choppyness around town?

my best guess would be the TRE as I have read on this site of others who had the same problem but you said it did it before you installed it so...... if it is choppy on and off idle position you could maybe check your throttle and make sure it is adjusted properly. It could just be that the FI is still new to you too. There is some surge to all FI bikes from what I have read. The Busa is pretty well dialed in to eliminate the typical FI surge, I have read though that the ZX-12 has a bad surge problem with it's FI.

You could try a custom map for your PC. Either post a message here on the board and see if someone has a custom map they will give you or have a Dyno tune done to truley tune your particular bike.

If it keeps it up I think I would pull the TRE and pay very close attention to see if it improves or not.

Going to 86 the TRE now. Nothing changed when I added it. It ran this waw before I added it. I 'm going to remove it now. Thanks!

It's out. Just waiting to go for a ride.  I don't expect a change, due to it ran the same before the TRE.  Thanks again...Here is my new ride.

Nice! looks sweet! I like the yosh looks.. But like the stock sound of the factory pipes. My bigbore gsxr had a yosu and a few years of that it got old quick. Leaving for a ride now, I will post how it ran with out the TRE.

I suggest you try the following ....

a) In your PC3 software reset the TPS (Throtle Position Sensor) ... thats should solve the problem.

b) If solution a does not work, I suggest that you take out your current TRE and put in a Ivan's Smart TRE (ie, if you are very sure that you want a TRE on your bike)

Give it a shot and let me know!!

I have to get the software, The bike just came with the pcIIIUSB what else came with it? I also ditched the TRE... for now untill I feel it will help something. Can I reset the tps on the bike? sorry I'm a carb guy, new to FI.
THANKS FOR EVERYONES HELP. Also, I get some popping on deceleration (sp) Not all the time, but pops a little.
Pipe is pretty black, but looked at a few busa's last night anf they were the same. Normal?

Yeah.. reset the throttle position on the PCIII software to "0" when its idling.. it should solve your smoke problem..
