Hello. Im from the UK and have had my Busa for 5 months. I love it but I have a problem with it.

It was left standing only for a couple of weeks so I dont really think this problem has been caused becuase of this.
I got on the bike, fired it up, selected first and went to pull away. I stalled it imediately becuase the biting point of the clutch was about ten mm from the handle bars. When I last rode it it was about three quaters the way out. Anyway, I continued and then it got worse and now when you pull the leaver all the way in, the bike continues driving forward as if the clutch leaver was fully out. I put the bike on a stand, started it and got it up to temp and then sat on it, gave it a few revs and applied the back brake in case the plates were stuck. It didnt work at all. The clutch leaver has no 'feel' at all. It is just soft. Has anyone got any ideas? The bike has 10,000 miles and has not been abused. I have heard about sticking slave cylinders etc. Could it be that? The leaver certainly feels like there is nothing pushing it back to its position when you let go, only the spring inside the leaver itself.....I cant find any leaks and the level in the reservoir is spot on.....
Any help very gratefully received. Thank you very much

I would check to see if there are any leaks first. If that's good then I would try and bleed the clutch. If that dosent work I'm out of ideas lol. I would ask one of my buddys myself.

welcome to the org!!!!!! ya i would agree sounds like it lost its prime somehow???? check for leaks and add fluid...i doubt its anything serious.:welcome:

:welcome:aboard, Check for leaks around the slave cylinder. Is the res. full?

I would think that either the clutch slave is not actuating when pressure is given to it from the clutch master on the handlebar or the clutch master itself is failing to give fluid pressure when you squeeze the lever. Yes, look for a leak. If you don't see an external leak then you probably have an internal failure of one of those 2 components. Fluid does not just go away in a sealed clutch system in the same way that fluid level drops in the hyd. brake system.....Brake pads wear, fluid takes up space to compensate. I also doubt that you got air in the system for no reason at all so this makes me doubt that all you need to do is bleed the system and expect all to be well.

Without seeing the bike, and based on your symptoms. I would suspect clutch master cylinder failure or clutch slave cylinder failure. Neither is difficult to repair.

+1 also check your clutch line, maybe it's clogged or pinched

Rockethead,
A clogged or pinched clutch line would not give the feel of no resistance/ "no feel at all". A clogged or pinched line would mean you cant squeeze the lever because the fluid can't move through the line........I'm guessing this guy has a bad clutch master on the handlebar, or a bad slave cylinder under the fairing. A failed slave cylinder ALMOST always leaks externally

All of the above and see if you seen any movement at the sprocket cover. A broken cover can cause something similar.

so if a pinched line would cause no lever movement at all and if what Mark said is true that the resevoir is full/ no leaks, then it would seem he would have lever pressure. definably a weird problem. hope you (Mark) post the solution when you find one.

Thank you very much everyone who has helped me out. I’m overwhelmed by the assistance given on here!
Well, I used the advice I was given and there was air in the system. I removed the fairing and found the clutch bleed nipple and sure enough some air came out. Immediately the problem was gone! I can't see any leaks but then again I was working in a garage without the best lights so at the weekend I am going to have a good check around and see if I can find a leak. As some of you guys have said, there must be a reason the air got in there in the first place.
Once again, a big thank you, an awesome forum…..

glad you got it fixed for now :beerchug: it's a horrible feeling when your ride won't work and you don't know what's wrong!

Very glad you got it sorted out. Now that she functions normally, post up some pics of her. :beerchug:
