HID High Beam

I have the problem on mine when the bulbs are starting and engine is below 2K RPMs where the high will just flicker and shut off. Has anyone else run into this? Is there a way to boost the available current so I don't get shut-off issues?

I'm running a genuine Yuasa YTZ-14S, BTW.

Have you checked the voltage of the battery?

13.2 at idle, IIRC. Might be just low enough to not have enough juice. The battery is fairly fresh, though.

Wow I have not heard of this problem. I wonder if the ballast might be going out or have a short in it. I have heard of the bulbs doing just not coming on when you have a low battery but never just going out when the bike is at idle. Do this though engage the fast idle lever then start the bike and see if it does the same thing make sure the RPM's are at 2K. If it does the same thing you might also want to look at the charging system as it might not be providing the right power from what a couple of experience techs have told me the charging systems on M/C's don't start charging until they are over 2K RPM's so look at that as well Bro just in case.

BTW, once the bulbs are warmed up, they won't flicker at idle. It did this since they were new.

Had a switch with a relay on my 04LE, will do the same on 08.
