HID low beam weny quit on me.

I have had the HID low and high beam for a couple of years now. Never a problem. Get on the bike tonight, turn the key, and the low beam flickers fast two or three times, then shuts off. Omar offered to swap his bulb with me to see if thats the problem, but I was wondering if any of you have had the same problem, and what did you do to fix it?

nope, I have the original ICEMAN kit, been running strong since 2002 I did put a relay switch on my bike so the light is off at all startups...hear it saves the ballasts

I thought the 05 had a delay built in?

Only if you hold the start button down while turning the key to the on position.....and even then I've noticed my HID spikes when I release the button after it's started....don't know if that's normal or not though. The bulb gets sorta bright then dims then gets to full power like normal.

dunno, I had to wire mine up but seems to do the trick. Mine will actually start and grow brighter over 20-30seconds with the switch. Not even sure what all what the kit has in it but seems to be rolling strong now 8yrs later

Do you have high and low?

If you do try swapping the ballasts, and see if that helps!

hold the starter button and pull the clutch to start. release clutch, and when idle stabilizes you can release the starter button and it'll fire up the HID's. it gets to be habit after awhile.

Its the ballast. I had the same problem, turn the bike on and it would be on for a minute then flicker and go off.

PMed John and he sent me a new bulb. Does it only happen when the bike is off or also when its running? I know you have the new battery, but if the voltage is down a little the igniter won't fire correctly. Could be low when its cold out or with the big temp swings.

The 05 turns the headlights off when you press the starter button.

Sorry to hear this Hal, I know the 05 had a delay, but it will come on and the cut off when you start it. I have a switch wired on mine, same year as yours. Wish I had some parts I could send you.

Mine used to cut off until I wired it to a separate switch. No problems since unless I forget to turn the switch off before starting. Simple to do and you shouldn't have any problems, but I would also start with changing the bulb just to be sure.

It has worked perfect for a few years. When you turn the switch on, the bulb flickers a few times, then nothing. I do have both high and low beam HID, so I'll try the ballast swap. Good idea John!

i've got the same bike as yours and never had any problems unless my battery is almost dead, then it just doesn't have enough juice to fire it up
