ok heres the deal i bought a HID kit for my bike(01' busa) low beam only. plug and play kit. ive had it for 3 weeks and no problems. so on tuesday i took my bike in for full service, front and rear bearings, yosh box tuning, k&n filter, and fork seals. when i got my bike back today my HID didnt turn on. so i turned off my bike and turned on again. and still nothing so i figured id go home and trouble shoot there. and then just as i pulled up to my house i noticed that my HID had come on. so i parked. turned off my bike and turned on again and HID worked fine. then a couple hours later as i was leaving for work. i went to start my bike and no HID. so i turned off and back on and nothing. so i ended up going to work and back home on highs. luckily no problems with cops. just got home an hour ago but to tired to troubleshoot right now. so will look into problem tomorrow.

but if anyone has any insight or suggestions please feel free to post. very fustrated please help!!!

thanks,

Same thing happened to me. I pulled it apart and checked the connections. They seemed fine, but it stopped it from happening. I have had it fire and drop out a couple of times when starting. My battery was getting weak and I guess it was below the threshold voltage to operate. Restarting fired it back up.

Some have installed a time delay relay to have to come on 10 seconds or so after starting. I thought about it, but it has only happened few times in 18 months...... maybe in my spare time!

hey professor thanks for the input ill go try and disassemble and see if that works and then go from there.

i just hope my shop didnt short it out/blow the ballast when they were tuning/ revving the bike and turning it on and off.

According to the book you should see more than 12.5 across the battery. If not, give it a good charge. Haven't had any problems, but then again my batteries just over a year old. Bike manufactured in 2/06

Loose connection use those zip ties to hold the plugs together. Esp. where the HID plugs in to the factory headlight plug.

thanks guy for all the input.

now is there a difference between a HID car kit and a motorcycle kit?

cause i bought my kit from xenondepot.com and its supposed to accomodate the extra vibration that bikes have.

but after disassembling my whole HID kit it looks as though its the ballast. now is it possible that i have a defective ballast or did i just ride it to hard?

does anyone else run an xenondepot motorcycle HID kit? have you had any problems with it?

sorry guys for all the random thoughts just kinda fustrated with my kit. should have went with the Big George kit

well im just going to cut my losses and do it right. i just finish ordering my high/low kit from busazilla.com and its cheaper than what i paid for just my low beam kit from xenondepot.com

A FRIEND OF MINE SOLVED A SIMILAR PROBLEM BY PRESSING THE STARTERS MOTOR BUTTON A LITTLE LONGER THAN THE USUAL WHEN HE STARTS THE ENGINE

i have an '01 and HAD this usse as well. what it is, well.. 2 things... 1 is when we turn out bikes key onto the ON position, our headlights come on. well, when we go to start the bike, since the headlight is on, power is getting drained to keep the light on. so alot of the time when we start it, the light wont come on cause at some point, there isnt enough power (its also cause the factory wiring to the headlight is really thin..so it cant hold the current constantly. hence y it doesnt turn on.

ok..so how to fix this issue. u can do 2 things, 1 is... if u dont have 1 already..buy 1 of those battry tender things for like $30.. and keep ur battery always fully charged (ive been doing this.. and noticed that i have YET had the HID NOT turn on). also, if u do a quick search, there is a post i made on this a while back and 2 peopel posted links to some relays that solve this issue (i fianlly got around to ordering it, and have it, just havent felt like ripping the front nose off to install it yet). the one i got is the 1 that has an adjustable timing thing to when the accesories get turned on after the bikes been turned on (aka, the headlight wont turn on with start-up.. and depending on how long u set ur timer, everythign will come on without an issue). this realy was $19. cheaper then the battery tender.. but imo, the battery tender is a nice thing to have too.

I've gotta have one of those relays! I have an 02 and really watch my battery because of possible kickback starter issues the 02 has.

DEI_528T is the relay, do a search on ebay they are there for around $10. worked perfectly on my 2000.
it is a timed delay relay 30amp for a Viper car alarm. fully adjustable - 10 sec works great.
