Ok the busa I recently purchased has an hid for the low beam. When I turn the key on the hid powers up fine but when I start the bike it cuts off immediately. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Wasn't sure if this was that timer problem that's in the sticky since it will stay on as long as you want if the key is in the ON position before starting. It was working before I was told.

What year Busa? 2004->earlier do not cut off the low beam when starting. On some HID kits, that current draw is enough to make 'em shut off. This is the case on my '04. I installed a delay time on my HID...they come on 10 secs AFTER the key is turned on. That gives me enough time to start the bike...and have it running before the HID kicks on.

You can hold the start button as you turn the ket on, then pull the clutch lever to start. If you don't like that route you can wire in a timer. I wired mine to a timer and used the lowbeam circuit as the trigger. As soon as the circuit gets power the timer shuts off the HID power until the set delay passes. It work 100% of the time so far.

yea i read the timer sticky, but the light worked normally before. and will stay on UNTIL i start the bike. didnt know if it would be something different. its like after it starts the hot circuit is cut to the hid. havent put a light on it yet to see.

edit: 2001 busa

run a capacitor inline I'll see if I can find the link here. that'll fix it for about $5-$10 if you make your own

Run mine through a switch, so I can cut it on and off to eliminate the problem.

That's what MC Mustang did on his 2001... His HID would cut out when starting...switch took care of that.

I have a delay timer on my '05 I remember when I was setting the timer at first I started the bike and the initial hit of the HID firing up was enough to kill the bike shortly after it was started cold with no choke/raised RPM. I have mine set for 15 sec after key on to let the bike recover for a few seconds after starting before the HID fires.
