High Millage???

Monstrosity

I've had about 9 bikes since I started ridding. Some for a few thousand miles and a few that broke over 10K. I had a 600 Gixxer that when I got past 10K it seemed to be tired. I picked it up around 8K. On the flip side I had a Gixxer K and after 10K it felt as great as it did at 6K when i bought it. So my question is for a Busa. What would you consider high millage? From 12000-20000 will I need to do anything big as far as maintenance goes?

So basically (for the motor) keep up on your oil changes and air filter changes? How about flushing your radiator and spark plugs?

The bike is pretty bullet proof...you have to have a MAJOR brain fart to kill a Busa engine.

Over 50 K on a 06 and no problems except 1 warped front rotor and some fork seals.

Probably going to do the clutch plates soon though.

Stop landing wheelies so hard! Just kidding, everyone's warned me about screwing around on the busa and how I'll pop fork seals like its my job... I'm getting a used cheap 600 for track days and stunts.

My K8 is 10 months old and working on 31,000 miles, and the only problem I've had is trying to buy tires fast enough...

The bigger the engine and the lower the revs it needs to turn the longer it will last. A busa engine should go 100K no problem with proper maintainence. I know a guys thats ran all his big bores past 100K

I just go by the manual on maintainence schedules. Plugs and throttle body sync on mine at 8000, oil (good synthetic) & filter every 4000, can't remember the milage recomended for coolant change but it's there in the owners manual.
Got 8600 on my 07 and it's running very well.

HOLY SMOKES!!! My 01 only has half as many miles!! Too much LIFE,.....not enough RIDING!! :banghead:

My odo shows a little less than 50,000 miles, but with her being uncorrected for the 18 tooth front sprocket for 30,000 miles or so, she's really got about 51,000 miles on her. And I still run the snot out of her on track days and had her on the strip a few weeks ago.

I just turned over 10,000 miles on my K8--10 months old. Nothing like Warchild--but a fair amount for me. I'm feeling the bike is running better now than when new. I'll spend the winter installing new tires, brakes, plugs, etc--getting ready for spring. The way it's running now, I expect no problems for many, many more miles!

My Busa is pushing 20K now and I'm late in some of the maintenance, but regular oil changes and just TLC, I have no issues or complaints...I feel like the bike would go forever...

I do ride it like a girl, so perhaps that's why my Busa is so good to me :p
