Just got done with my ride the other day and looked at my rear tire, man it's gone. I still need to get it to the shop about 15 miles. Think I better take the rim to the bike shop on this one.

Last year I was with my wife on a ride and was 75 miles from my 30' fifth wheel camper hauler.  We stopped at a road side rest area and as I was taking a break seated at a table I saw wat looked like I ran over some gum.  It looked like a long thin strand and been stretched around the center of my tire.  I walked over to look and to my horror it turned out to be the tire cord!!!!  Well I kept it down to 55mph and stayed away from stones and such and rode it back to the camper on the cords!!! Smart? well not really I guess but that cord was tough and took it just fine. When I got back to camp the spot of cord was wider but the cord of the tire looked the same... That was a surprise to me so don't worry it will get there just go easy....

There is a difference between trailer and motorcycle tires. If a trailer tire blows out, big deal! Replace it and go on. If your motorcycle tire goes out, good luck! After fixing everything you broke after blowing the tire and bending the aluminum wheel and whatever fairings you may scratch when you lay it down....etc.. That is one expensive tire!!

Maybe you can find a really curvy road to the shop so you won't need that part of the tire much.

That was my Busa tire I was talking about!!! I had to ride it back to the camper to put the bike away!!!! Like I said... one tough Cycle tire on the busa.... And like I said you dont ride the Busa on the cords like a nut you go easy and it will get you there.. and like I also said not smart but can be done.

Ok I went back and under lined my first post so it could be seen I was talking about riding back 75 miles to the camper hauler.... Thats why that post had an edit... Still in shock about the tire thing..... thought I could buy tires in bulk and use them for both the camper and the busa.... Ok ok I know Im a smart a$$ at times..... Just busting the nuts a little..... I guess I knew the point I was trying to make but I should have been a little more clear with the post....

be safe, just bring the wheel in. plus, if you bring the wheel in, the labor cost less too.

i saw a parked busa that had a really worn rear tire. the middle of the tire were all wires. don't know why he/she would chance it though.

That is too FUGGIN FUNNY.

Sad part there is probably some poor Bastid out there writing down your suggestion........

Manatrader,

If you have the skills to take off and install the rim while your bike is safely at your house, do as you planned.

If you are in the middle of Death Friggen Valley being chased by drunk aliens who escaped from Area 51, consider riding it. Or maybe let the aiens ride it to the bike shop and if they crash, report it stolen.....

I like the ideas, this thing is coming off via the rear stand, only $22 bucks if I bring the rim in to get the Pilot Powers I have sitting in the garage mounted. Thanks again Bbusa for that hook up.
I do wish there was a road without any straight a ways that would be cool.
