Well, after senslessly debating the point of slip-ons vs. full system (I think I knew that I would end up with a full system before I even bought the slip-ons!), I took the plunge and purchased the Akrapovic Evolution I Full Titanium System with the Carbon Fiber Can. After talking with ProudDad (thanks again for the advice), I performed the install in my garage. It went very easy, removed the whole pair valve aparatus and installed PMR block off plates and gaskets. Once all of the bodywork was removed and the radiator and oil cooler attachment bolts removed, I covered the rad in cardboard and positioned it as far forward and out of the way as possible. That gave me enough clearance to work around. Removing the old system was a snap. Once in position, the Akro system bolted up like butter. The fit and finish is amazing, and the weight difference is huge. Once bolted up everything went back together smoothly, that midpipe is big. Circumfrence is large and this pipe really puts out the heat, so I made a small spacer for the topside of the wing to keep it from melting. Once all buttoned up I resisted firing it up (I cheated the night before once I had the pipe on), and gave Evelyn a good wash and wax. Downloaded the Akro full system map from the Dynojet website and sent it via laptop to the PCIII USB. Then I fired her up....No words can describe the violence of the sound inside a small garage
This thing sounds just vicious, after a good warm up I proceeded to set off my neighbors car alarm across the street! My first shakedown ride I thought I would just take her easy. the sound is so fantastic, that I could not contain the revs. I took her to an empty part of the base that I live on where I know that the access gate is closed so nobody goes down that way after 1800 adn let her out a little. the difference in the midrange pull is phenominal. No problem getting the front end high on the 1st to 2nd shift! the raging scream to redline is addictive. This pipe sounds like you owe it money
. Needless to say I am again hoplessly in love with my Evelyn.
