Homemade plenum

Here is the plenum I made today.
It is not finished (did not have any tube) so I will have to get some Monday.
I could not see how 450$ for 10$ in 16 guage steel and a few hours work would be a good investment.
In its early stages it looks a bit rough but after I powder coat it once its finished it hopefully will look decent.

You got some skills... and equipment. I'm afraid it's the $450 option for me.

Is that for a turbo? Looks a little big if so.

Plenum volume has a direct relation on spool time so you might want to check the volume to make sure you are in the ballpark. 1 1/2 times engine displacement is the figure I hear most often.

Oh and sorry if I sound like Im trying to piss on your post. Good on ya for doing it yourself!

I don't think the spool time is affected all that much unless you went real big. look at the cfm the turbo is producing say 200 cfm just before realy building boost , how many cubic feet in the airbox ?? even a big airbox with 1 cubic foot would take .3 second to displace its capacity .6 for 2 atmospheres or 15psi (generalising a little but you get the idea)

Thanks all.
I do think the pics make it look a bit bigger than it is.

Also I should not say that it is so much cheaper doing it yourself. I do have the tools and limited experience in fab and this just doesnt make it practical to do this sort of thing unless you have the same.

I am surprised no one said anything about my massive cc displacement!!!

I noticed it. I just figured you somehow added a GSX750R in the chassis to spin the Turbo for a 1428.

Hey,.......I noticed the stickers as well. Did you have them made? If so,.......please let me know where to go. I am doing something a little different with mine,...............and it involves changing the numbers and letters. Thanks for any input!!!

I do a lot of busniess with PDQ signs in Portland Oregon.

I took my bike there and they matched the fonts and color.

It was about 25$ to have a few sets made.

I have got a lot of laughs because of these.

Well worth the money.

It would be cool for someone to put their real displacement if they had a 1397 or 1509.

Thanks Dude,......I'll scout out a place in my area that does similar stuff. I am doing a DIY turbo as we speak. When I finish,........I wish to add "-T" after the GSX1300R. Subtle,......but effective!!! Thanks again.
