Homer Simpson moment

So I'm rearranging things in the garage and moving the bikes around. As I am guiding the busa into her spot, she leans a little too far to the right (I'm standing on the left) and over she goes.

Of course, this embarrassment must be shared with the neighbors because I quickly discovered that couldn't get the old girl off the floor by myself. After several minutes of trying, I finally went over to my neighbor (a HD guy) and sheepishly asked for his help.

When we got her up I was VERY happy to discover that there were no broken pieces and only a few minor scratches on the lower fairing. For the most part I think they can be rubbed out. Not too bad. I think what really saved the bike is that the garage floor is painted and is very smooth

Anyway, chalk one up for me in the dumba$$ column.

Did I hear someone say "frame sliders"?

Don't sweat it man, happens to the best of us. On that note, the Busa weighs about 500 lbs. I have watched people try to pick them up with the front wheel straight - use the force (physics/leverage) and turn the wheel so that you are sort of rolling the bike up. I only mention this becuase if anything happens and no one is around.......

Just my .02 glad nothin serious happend!

Glad to hear the damage was minimal and the pride wasn't hit to hard. Did the neighbor give you any???

Buddy, don't feel bad. At least your bone-head move was in the garage instead of out in the middle of bfe, like me a couple of weeks ago:D

Haven't had this happen to me YET! I guess I really just need to take the plunge one weekend and install some sliders. I just hate the thought of cutting into those fairings.

hah yes I as well am an elite member of this club!! Once off the stand and once off the bed of the truck! I feel your pain, and yes...frame sliders!

FRAME SLIDERS!!

J/k...how 'bout carpeting in the garage??

Glad it was ony minor scratches....hope they buff out...get some rubbing compound at the local Kragen's or some such place. The fine cut...works like a charm!

People give me crap for being a big guy on a sport bike, however I tend to be able to lift and manuever my 'Busa very easily. Thank goodness for my size.

Now the other day I was riding my buddie's '04 GSX-R750 and WOW! I felt like I could do anything with that bike. Wheelies and endos no problem. I really need to get a stunt bike.

For those of you who have had the good sense to install frame sliders, I've wondered how you determine where to make the holes in the fairing. Do they give you some sort of template with the sliders that locates the holes?

Also, what are some good sliders that I should be looking at?

I'd had mine like a month and one night I'm painting the kitchen and my daughter comes in and says Daddy your bike is laying on the ground ( insert music from psyhco here) THE HORROR:O

And laying on the right side which means someone had to push it over . Luckily it fell over in the grass and only scuffed up the barend and mirror . Both of which I've replaced with aftermarket parts. But I will never forget the adrenaline rush I had that night . I jerked her up like a Russian weight lifter on steroids. Oh yeah and one of my stock cans got scratched up but I no longer have those on the bike . I went to a full 4-2-1 system .

dropped my baby twice...once before I took my motorcycle test on it, and the other while backing out of the garage in the back. Pissed as heck both times....yanked her up like a sack of potatoes. Then again, having 29" thighs really helps.

Also dropped my Vulcan. Was trying to remove the chain from the front wheel while the bike was on it's centerstand...and before I knew it, the bike had slipped off it's centerstand. Now THAT was a heavy bike. Around the neighborhood of 800+lbs, I beleive.

I'm 5'-9", 145 lbs soaking wet. The Busa wasn't coming up with me as the sole motivator. There would seem to be an advantage to being a larger Busa owner under the circumstances.

Maybe I should consider a lighter bike.... say a new GSX-R1000. Or is that "litre" bike?

Nah...

  Nah...
5'9" and 145? LOL....ABD, we're the same height! Only difference is that I'm about two times your weight....and I wouldn't be suprised if one of my thighs is almost as big as your waist. Heheh....yep. Big-boned island dude....

A liter bike sounds good....

as a stablemate.
