Honda 600 rr vs 01 Hayabusa setup for the track

Hi all, normally I don't do a lot of smack talking about what a busa will do but on this occasion I could not help it. Anyway I've been issued a challenge from a person that is a good rider, he races AFM and he rides a Honda 600 RR. The bet is that he will be able to lap me in a 10 lap race at the following race track: Willow Springs "The Big Track" (http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/trackinformation/maps.asp). My bike is not setup for drag but the twisties: Lindemin re-valved and resprung my front shocks and I bought a Penske 12 position rear. I run Michiline Pilot Powers, have Wave Rotors front and Back, HMF High Dual, PCII, 2 Teeth up in the rear, Raised the bike 1 inch in the rear and pulled the rear in 1 inch. We are both what I consider somewhat equal riders but I will say he has had more track time than me (Both of us are above average riders) who do you think will 1) win this 10 lap race, 2) if you think the busa will get laped, 3) do you think the busa will lap the 600. Please be honest and looking forward to your remarks. Thanks. For those of you who has not heard of this track I attached the link above.

IMHO ya'll be at a disadvantage since he's got some track time.  But give it your all....

I know that riding on the track and riding on the street are 2 different things but up in northern cali there are roads that are like tracks with little or no traffice with plenty of run off and one of the roads happens to be laid out like the big track at willow and in the tight stuff yes there were times that he passed me in the turns but I always caught and passed him as we left the exit of the turns (the tight stuff) but on the long sweepers I was anywhere from 20 to 30 bikes in front and we will not talk about the straight which was about a mile before you had to brake down to a 20 mph turn. I just think that the big track at willow is a high hp track. If he would have said a 750 or up then that's another story.

the track does seem somewhat straight...

let us know how it turns out...

I do think if he can ride and knows that track, he will win. But he will not lap you, If you are both equal riders, then let him get out front and just pace him, hang a little behind in corners, then pressure him on inside coming out of them, your exit speed will be your best weapon (except for the straights) he will not expect you to push him out of turns....

i believe the rider with the more experience at willow will win reguardless of what he's riding. the 600 is obviously setup for that track if he's ridden it before, meaning proper sprockets for corner exits and high speed straits. the Busa is ALREADY at a major weight disadvantage for late braking, cornering all of it. I hope you can beat him, but I don't see lapping happening by either party! Please take lots of pics. Should be a ball!!!

I DO worry about the competative "Race" aspect causing either of you to push too far to beat the other... why not just go for lap time instead? I'm sure your friend would hate to be scared off a corner the same as you would hate it. Be safe! Remember it's just for fun. Busa is NOT a track bike and I would expect it to loose without reflecting on your ability at all

I agree with the "race" thing. Do it for fastest lap, but even then, most likely you'll be running in a group with others and you'll have to contend with the "oh, he got in my way" stuff.

If you go out together, don't try to divebomb him by late braking and force him off the line, you'll both lose on that one anyway. Go out for a track day, put some transponders on each of your bikes and compare best time of the day. Doesn't have to be same session.

Before this challenge can happen it's only fair that you get one track day on it before hand. This will help with lines, familiarity and lap times dramatically.

With that said if you guys are equal riders there is no way in hell he could lap you. As a matter of fact you could possibly win depending on alot of things, but the main one is the long straights this track has which equals good bye 600.

Put track tires on your bike, go for a track day and go hand him his ass, Busa style.
