Horsepower or Looks

My question is what do you find more important in a "sport bike" as for as performance or looks?   Take into consideration what you think and not others.  For example: if you walked into a shop and there was a fully customized busa with 240 to 360mm tire kit, custom paint, chrome goodies, and lets just say for the hell of it a turbo. Then there is another with a big bore kit natural aspirated pushing 250 to 400 horses streetable with no overheating problems and turning sub 8 second times at the track with lots of performance goodies to lighten and strengthen the bike.  Both had a pretty step price tag on them, but you had the money to just throw away. Which would you take home?

I guess that depends if you buy a bike to look at it or ride it....I ride mine. I know of a few Harley guys here local with 2000 year harleys and still less than 1000 miles on them.

I always get a chuckle about the guys on ebay who tell you how much they spent on their bike and then want $25k for a 5 year old bike.

Honestly, that's a VERY hard choice, but I'd probably have to go with the looks. But even so, I'd still ride it and show it off! I like the idea of still getting good fuel economy.

Looks.I bought a motorcycle to look good and to pick up hoes. All sportbikes have more than enough power for the average joe shmoe anyway (any literbike or more i mean)

I forgot to give my choice. That would be horsepower/performance. While there are some suckers out there for the bling craze I think you would probably be able to get your bang for the buck from the power and performance. How many people are talking about 26 and 28 inch rims and such now? I have a buddy that bought a set of 14inch knock off wire wheels back in the day for $1,400 frog skins. He still has those wheels today. You know where they are now? In the shed rusting away. He was the parking lot pimp back in the day. Another sad thing is he is still making payments on those wheels today. Credit Cards!

I like the best of both worlds.
No matter how nice it looks it's gotta be able to ride and function. I'm a rider first, then I like the attention for the bike

Well I will have to say for looks... Trust me I get that shiney toy.... I would love to be capable to go to a shop that have a lot of busa parts in stock.... and since it was a gift from my wife I take care of the bike more than the cars... Hell I don't even use my turbo miata anymore and I'm actually contemplating selling the darn thing.... as far as miles goes... I had my bike for two months and somehow it still shows only 800miles on the clock.... I guess i do spend a lot of time in traffic...

I know this isn't one of the answers, but somewhere in the middle. Looks w/performance.

Both if possible. Long time ago I would have gone for looks only, but now I know that I can make a bike look good so performance if only one to choose from.

what about the full sport package? Ohlins forks an shocks, carbon fiber rims and body work, titainum exhaust and fasteners, etc, etc...

What about A full sport touring package? corbin bags, seats, back rest, gps, helibars, screen, cruise control, etc. etc...

Thers's more to the Busa than just bling or dyno.

Great responses! I am just looking for opinions and not trying to get under skinz. SO far what I am hearing is there should be a compromize between the two. There is a point when you say okay there is enough crap on my bike now for show and okay there is enough power here to pull a train off its tracks. I can accept that. The no overkill law. Yeah! That's it!

I like things to be more performance oriented. Upgraded forks, shock, brakes, engine. I'm not a big fan of the bling but to each their own... as long as it can be ridden on the streets.

Just like I would rather have a GP bike than a 4X4 lifted/chromed/jammed full of HiFi

I prefer small bolt on items so it does not look stock, But also like a NICE Hidden Turbo, or NOS under the Seat just for some added FUN.
Jon(Loomis).

Your buddies first (and biggest) mistake was the credit cards. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. It's simple. Save your money, pay cash. Or at least get a bank loan rather than goin and puttin it on a credit card. . . CC's do nothing but get ppl in WAY over their heads, unless they don't use it for any more than what they can pay off when the bill comes. It's simple logic. And, BTW, when I say I like looks, I'm not talkin HUGE tire kits, and rediculously long swing arms and stuff. I'm not a huge fan of the extended look. I'm just talkin, nice paint, some bolt on goodies. Thee only reason I didn't say both was cause you said ONE. I'd rather have both. Look good, and some perf. mods.

There isn't much better in life than pulling up next to some blinged-out chromed-out garage-queen busa and then SMOKING them when the light turns green. But ... that's just me. No show, all go.
