How long do the front brakes last..

I can see mine just be looking with the wheel on.
keep in mine if you ride hard at the track they dont last very long at all!
I ran about 3500 on the last set. and am expecting running less on this set

You will get better wear and better brakes by using an HH pad. You do not have to remove the wheel to access the pads to inspect or change. Just take out the two bolts on the caliper and pull off. Support the calipers with bunji cords to avoid strain on the brake lines.
Or, you can take the inspection cover off and look through there.

I'm at 17k, I don't use them...only the rear...been through 2 sets of those...
changed fronts out at 16K and they still had 10% or so left.. now at 20K and rears (original) are still at 80% good..

TXBusa05LE not sure I agree with your riding method of not using front brakes... sounds rather "precarious" IMO... pretty much everyone I know or ride with rely almost solely on the fronts for stopping power.. Glad it is working for you but still pretty amazed...

But seriously, the back does not have hardley any stopping power. Hal is correct, 80% is in the front. That is why you have two rotors and two calipers, and bigger rotors, etc. Anyway, Glad its workinng for you bro. Not flaming, just amazed.

Ya'll must have missed the line under my signature...
It will depend on the rider. I had 32K on the factory set of my '06 compared to three sets for the rear. Visual inspection is important. Rotors run north of $250 a piece up front.

EXACTLY why I don't use the FRONTS...
I use the back almost evertime I use front to a degree. How I learned to ride. Been through back oads around 8000 miles. At 10000 and still have front pads left. I am not an aggressive braker. Had a few hard brakes on the bike to avoid accidents, but normally ride conservatively and give plenty of time to break. I use back by themselves sometimes when slowing just a little or rolling slowly to stop light or something. oh, I agree with the masses. I think you are going to get yourself in trouble just using the back brakes. The way you brake becomes habit forming and in a panic situation, you do what you are used to doing and the back brakes by themselves could get you killed. back tire slides and precious time is loss to try to recover and bam, you are in a car or sliding on your azz. Bck brakes are great on a dirt road, wet pavement, anywhere you are scared of the front tire washing out. It is easier to recover from a rear wheel slide than a front tire slide, but on normal pavement you can't stop in time for regular riding. We are just concerned for your safety bro!!!
